Hey guys I'm in one hell of a position right now. My grandmother just got moved into a retirment home and that was where my Charger is currently being worked on. I have to get it out of her garage ASAP or my mom's family will tow it away. I have just finished replacing all of the wiring and right now I'm having a problem with the steering column. A friend of mine did all of the wiring then kind of left me with no help on how to hook everything back up including the dash and steering column.

- First the steering column is separated from the steering thing in the engine bay.
- I don't know how to hook the steering column back up to the dash
- I don't know how to unlock the steering column in order to see if all of the wiring is in working order

If anybody can help me with these problems that would be great.

Shakey

Rather than try to rush it together which could cause potential problems, spend the money and hire a flatbed to haul it to it's new home ASAP.

Sorry I couldn't be more help but I don't know much about 3rd generation Chargers.

If my suggestion is not an option, hopefully one of the more knowledgable members will chime in.

 :iagree:
I'm with shakey on this,If you are in a hurry and I understand the nursing home"thing"So definatly get a flatbed or trailer and get it home.I wouldn't try and rush it,you will make mistakes that might cost you more in the long run. :Twocents:

I also agree with the boys.
I have two 3rd gens but not enough time to instruct you on how to put everything back together. Get yourself a FSM, it's one of the best things you can buy for yourself.

Well I would have done that first but I'm actually gonna sell it ASAP. I'm a very poor college kid and I need the money. I bought it back in highschool when the idea of restoring the car was much more simple because I didn't have bills up to my eye balls. Now I do, and I really need the money. I have new seats and carpeting for the interior I just need to get the dash back in and most importantly the steering column back up.

Thanks for the input guys but if any of you have and technical advice too that would be awsome. I'm not gonna rush this and I am gonna do it right once I know how to.

Wow, tough call buddy. I can't help agreeing with the boys though. if Iwas local I'd come help, but I'm about as far away as I could get!

Maybe some of the members local to you could help move it. Don't rush it mate, that's good advice.

Let me know if you get desparate. I don't know how you are with cops, but I'm a cop here and will make contact and see if any of the local boys are mopar fans and would lend a hand. Let me know if you get stuck.

Paul I have absolutely no problem with cops if they are helping me so if you have the power to pull a few strings around my way that would be amazing.

i'll see what I can do, let me know the nearest police department or town and I'll see if any of the boys are up for helping. Can't promise anything but I'll try.

My internet is a bit hit and miss at home (the masts keep blowing away) so try paul.dewing@gov.ky

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Charger1973

Im from Iowa and I will be in Omaha next Saturday (the 31st) for the Eric Clapton concert.

Ive got a few 73s myself...  I cant promise anything right now, because I'll have a buddy with me and hes driving.   But... if I can talk him into it, maybe we can stop by and help you figure out how its supposed to go together.
