So as I look at more and more 68-70 chargers I am seeing more of the same rust areas and alot of charger with out their grill on the vehicle, my question is this...

What are the easyest places to replace due to rust, meaning what cars can I look and and say, that part is sold aftermarket or bondo's ok for that?
and
What parts are pretty much impossible to find, so that when I am looking I know to bring this up to the buyers.

Thanks so much guys!

i would say any sheet metal body parts that are not repoped  now , but there is  no point making this stuff unless it is exactly to OEM specifaction .

Maybe it would be easyer to ask this:
What is easy to come by or bondo? I dont need a # matching car, I want somthing that's fast, fun and  has a clean look that doesn't require you to see it from 20' away.

Well to me its a dash vin that starts with XX and has a J in it.

Thats the holy grail.

dkn1997

what's repopped: rear quarters (not full, but skins), dutchman panel (behind rear window)  sail panel points, trunk floors, front valance, rear valance, quarter extensions, wheel houses (not sure about the extensions or wheel houses) rocker panels.

what's not:  full quarters, hoods, decklids, doors, front fenders, firewall, cowl.

the good news:  decklids are rarely trashed, hoods are usually pretty decent too.
the bad news: quarters are always rotten, always always always.  Fenders cost a ton if you need and no other body in the "b" line will exchange body parts with you. unlike a roadrunner, where a sattelite 2 or 4 door has the same nose, or a gtx is the same body.  or a superbee where a coronet 2 or 4 door can donate it's nose.

I am probably missing something here, but that's the general gist of it.

:iagree:   just thought of a part another part rear tail light panel  69/70 .  i would even like to see proper roof skins being  reproduced   because as time goes bye there will not be many  good part cars left .

Corellian Corvette

Just from my pretty recent experience there are a whole host of new parts available. There are basically 3 parts left (IMO) that still need to be reproduced that are hard to find, harder to find nice, and even more expensive to refurbish

Fenders
Upper Door Panels
Grilles (centers and light pods)

Everything else you can pretty much find. The reason I left out things like taillight panels is beacuse you really don't see those destroyed too often and if they are, chances are the car is a pretty big project. Even still, I see 68 tail light panels on ebay more often than I see front fenders!

Just my $.02

Here's the holy grail.

I saw the face of 'Geevas' on it, now it's a shrine! ::)

Well, we got our grille for 400 and the upper door pads for 200. we got like an extra headlight support (the piece behind the grille) and like 4 extra rear upper door panels.

My car is basically all complete except for windshield, chrome between the side windows, front bumperettes, rear valance (got 1 but its rusted), exhaust, driveshaft, lower front door panels, carpet, headliner, floor pans and I think thats it.
