You won't even be able to own a Ruger 10/22!   :o
THIS WILL HAPPEN!!!  Buy what you want NOW.  If you are a kid wanting say an AR15, just buy the lower and save it until you can part it together (main part w/ serial number).  I plan to buy as many lowers as I can.  i also want a Barrett .50 BMG lower.

THE MOST SWEEPING GUN BAN EVER INTRODUCED IN CONGRESS;
McCarthy Bill Bans Millions More Guns Than The Clinton Gun Ban

On Feb. 14, 2007, Representative Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) introduced H.R. 1022, a bill with the stated purpose, "to reauthorize the assault weapons ban, and for other purposes."

McCarthy's verbiage warrants explanation. Presumably, what she means by "assault weapons ban" is the Clinton Gun Ban of 1994. Congress allowed the ban to expire in 2004 for multiple reasons, including the fact that federal, state and local law enforcement agency studies showed that guns affected by the ban had been used in only a small percentage of crime, before and after the ban was imposed.

With the nation's murder rate 43% lower than in 1991, and the re-legalized guns still used in only a small percentage of crime, reauthorizing the Clinton Gun Ban would be objectionable enough. But McCarthy's "other purposes" would make matters even worse. H.R. 1022 would ban every gun banned by the Clinton ban, plus millions more guns, including:

- Every gun made to comply with the Clinton ban. (The Clinton ban dictated the kinds of grips, stocks and attachments new guns could have. Manufacturers modified new guns to the Clinton requirements. H.R. 1022 would ban the modified guns too.)

- Guns exempted by the Clinton ban. (Ruger Mini-14s and -30s and Ranch Rifles; .30 cal. carbines; and fixed-magazine, semi-automatic, center-fire rifles that hold more than 10 rounds.)

- All semi-automatic shotguns. (E.g., Remington, Winchester, Beretta and Benelli, used for hunting, sport shooting, and self-defense. H.R. 1022 would ban them because they have "any characteristic that can function as a grip," and would also ban their main component, called the "receiver.")

- All detachable-magazine semi-automatic rifles-including, for example, the ubiquitous Ruger 10/22 .22 rimfire-because they have "any characteristic that can function as a grip."

- Target shooting rifles. (E.g., the three centerfire rifles most popular for marksmanship competitions: the Colt AR-15, the Springfield M1A and the M1 "Garand.")

- Any semi-automatic shotgun or rifle an Attorney General one day claims isn't "sporting," even though the constitutions of the U.S. and 44 states, and the laws of all 50 states, recognize the right to use guns for defense.

- 65 named guns (the Clinton law banned 19 by name); semi-auto fixed-magazine pistols of over 10 rounds capacity; and frames, receivers and parts used to repair or refurbish guns.

H.R. 1022 would also ban the importation of magazines exempted by the Clinton ban, ban the sale of a legally-owned "assault weapon" with a magazine of over 10 rounds capacity, and begin backdoor registration of guns, by requiring private sales of banned guns, frames, receivers and parts to be conducted through licensed dealers. Finally, whereas the Clinton Gun Ban was imposed for a 10-year trial period, H.R. 1022 would be a permanent ban.

Didn't Hitler proclaim that Nazi Germany would be the first country in world to have complete Gun Control in 1933?

I can't express my opinions about legislators (don't want to start political talk), but I do know this will affect EVERYONE, and I think you guys should know about it!

They will have to pry my guns from my cold dead fingers. I don't leave my 45 very far away, to many
nut cases around. I also have a very good hidden locked gun cabinet, and no kids, if we had kids around
I might have sold most of them by now.

During the last kommie ban, Beta mag's were going for $450-$600.  You can now get them for about $250-$280 depending on where you buy it.  If your thinking of investing in AR lowers, you might want to look at these too.  I have a couple right now and they rock.  100 rounds of fun!!!

I'm very proud to say that I'm the NRA's newest member.  I just recieved my membership package in the mail two days ago.
There is a strong drive to get military members to join up for free, as thanks for our continued service to our nation- and that is just what I did.

My grandfather was a member, my father is a member, and now I am a member.

We believe in these "unalienable" rights that have been bestowed upon us by our founding fathers 231 years ago.  No liberal panzie will take my Walther P99 QA or my Remington from my fingers.

Just let them try.

A political bitch session is ineviteble with such an assault on our rights as this NY Liberal has come up with.  And it's bound to become a locked topic, but at the very LEAST, I'm proud of you for bringing it to our attention!

Thank you!

So come on you liberal peaceniks who just want to shout harsh words at the bad guys outside your doors...bring it on!

ive been trying to pick up anything i can afford that they want to ban. But its hard since their idea of an assault weapon ban would ban virtually any firearm....

How many of you guys own guns that the government knows about? i.e., bought them new from a dealer?
Just wondering.

I've only bought one new (Ruger 10-22) for my kid for Christmas a few years ago, from a dealer...the rest are ones I've gotten from private individuals, with no paperwork involved.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

How many hunters are going to have a problem with this. I will that's for sure :flame: its a bunch of Bull.  What about the second ammendment?

RECHRGD

So the Ruger 10/22 that my Dad went out and bought in 1965 (after watching the Watts riots on TV) to protect his family from the thugs threatening to come burn down the white neighborhoods is going to be illegal?  I still have that gun and...............................................Ooops.  I better not put that out there or there might be a knock on the door.    Bob

If you're a bad guy you're going to be pretty happy. Gun laws only take guns away from the good guys. I am tired of jerk asses that have never owned or shot a gun in their life taking them away from us. Now I am not a gun nut I only own a .22 pistol and rifle and they are locked away in a gun safe, but come on... Liberals want one thing and that is for the people to rely on the government for everything. I don't want to rely on anyone to protect me or my family.

All this does is prove what I have said a couple times before right here.

Liberal democrat is just a reword for socialist. They want to systematically remove the rights of the average citizen.

I mean the Murder rate is lower. The climate is changing (the fact that is has always changed on this planet is totally inconsequential) and obviously it is our fault.
The democrats simply hate this country and all it stands for.

That is all I am gonna say about it

John_Kunkel

Such things are so predictable, Dems get power and they go after guns while Reps use their majority to ban abortion.

Politics as usual.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
