OK, dumb question.  Why the heck would anyone bid $163.50 for a blank fender tag?  If you wanted to put it on as is, what would be the point?  And if you wanted to stamp it with your own numbers, again, what would be the point?  That has got to be one of the easiest parts to repop on the entire car.

I don't get it. :shruggy:

Damn, I could be rich. It would be a breeze for me to make one of those in metal shop class. Lol

I know a guy with a tag on his 68 Charger that says "Special Order" in the middle and thats it.  Its kind of neat to see people look at it at car shows.  I think he got it off of a cop car.

This person probably just bought this tag as a novelty item...

How do we know that's an actual original blank tag & not just one of the repops that are available? :ahum:

Man, the high bidder on that one = :image_294343:

I believe that i read somewhere that the lettering/numbers (fonts) on the repro tags is slightly different than originals so a repro tag can be identified by a trained eye  :scope:

I've had one just like in the ashtray of my duallie for over 3 years.  I found it in a parts car (4 door 69 Satellite).  Often thought about stamping "It's my car and if you don't like it, walk away!!!!!!!!!!!!"   Thats what I want for a fender tag.  As far as the winning bidder goes, he probably is not well informed and just got bent over a little bit.  Gotta love  ebay.

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

I think what it is is that you can tell a repop tag from an original. I think it is the thickness of the metal. They probably are going to have the blank tag stamped to make there car worth more$$$ or try and tag a car i would guess. A repo fender tag is a dead give away on some of those million dollor e bodys.
