I have an old 440 that I was hoping to replace, but have decided to freshen up. My compression test showed 90-100 psi all the way around, obviously NOT GOOD. Would it be possible to re-ring it without changing the main bearings? Or could the pressure be from bad or worn valves?

It could be from a few things, drop a teaspoonful of oil in each cylinder and see what happens with the compression, if it jumps up then its the valves but if its got a lot of miles on it, its probably time for a rebuild. To just re-ring it isn't really the answer, good luck.

Do a leak down test its more accurate than a compression test, too many variables in a compression test i.e... starter draw, weak battery.
