Well, That was an interesting couple weeks but at least I know what it's like to post in E-bay as a seller... Never did that before. Actually was quite entertaining fielding some of the questions and there are some actual sincere people out there. Then there are the others... (won't go into that)

I sure hope the Insurance company doesn't watch those sales otherwise there will probably be an appraiser looking for work. I set the reserve to exactly the $$$ I invested in the car except normal maintenance and my time and it still didn't come close on either posting. (just over half way both times) And, wouldn't you know it the people who asked me to post it for a second time didn't even place bids. (Maybe they work for E-bay)

One thing I did get was a bunch of fraud e-mails where they try to get your user account info. (about 9 total) So, I'm gonna hang on to the car and finish what I started. The other one isn't going anywhere and I will be keeping in touch with the owner. Maybe I'll win the lotto some day. (right after getting hit by lightning on my way to redeem the winning numbers)

I watched a whole bunch of other Chargers and I don't think a single one actually made their reserve. I'm not gonna post it on E-bay ever again. But, I was wondering if anyone here really had "real" success on there?

Ive had success on all of the vehicles I ever sold on there (3 in total) I sold my 73 duster on there the 2nd day I had it listed. My 84 Ram sold no problems as did my 66 Belvedere. Granted I did have alot of stupid questions and alot of fraud e-mails (10-12 per car).

Current MoPars:
1968 Charger. 318 Out of commission:(
1975 Dart Swinger. 225 Pops daily ride.
1990 Dodge Ram. 360FI My daily ride.
2007 Magnum R/T. 5.7 Family wagon.

I have limited success selling little stuff but ebay has turned in to everyone wants something for nothing(i'm guilty too), so nobody wants to bid the real value of the item.

I just sold a $110(brand new) H2 Chrome gas cap for $24.99 cause I just wanted to get rid of it. Those kind of things aren't even worth it with all the fees and blah blah blah.

Right now I have a Manik rack on there that is the full length chrome rack for the roof of an H2 and it lists for over $1900 before shipping.  I just relisted it with a $600 starting and $700 BIN. By the way it is brand new and still in the plastic.   That's the 3rd relist and still nobody wants it.  So yeah the big stuff, people really get chinsy when it comes to spending the cash.

It's tough to actually make money if you are not a business for sure, and I don't see how these DVD sellers are making any money off selling movies for .99 or 1.99 a pop.  What am I missing there. I imagine after so much volume goes out, they realize a profit, I don't know.

Glad you are keeping your car though.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I always had great luck selling used parts on Ebay, never tried selling a vehicle though.

The bugle sounds the charge begins. But on this battlefield no one wins.

Take that wing off and get better pics of the interior and engine, and you might have better results. Just my  :Twocents:

If I am selling a car, I am sure to be ready to take pics any serious bidder wants. I sold 2 cars through ebay and had no problems. Of course I wasn't looking to get 5K from a car that was only worth 1K, like most ebay sellers do. That's not a reference to your car BTW. If my car goes on ebay, you guys would be shocked at how low I would set a reserve.
