Does anyone have a good Chrysler Part Number for the pinion nut washer used on a 489 rearend.  I have a good number for the pinion nut but not the washer.  I don't think this is just a plain flat washer.  I think it's a Belleville (curved) washer.  I looked up the part number in my 69 Charger parts manual but it's apparently not a good number anymore.  I am thinking that the number has been superceded.  My Dodge dealer doesn't have any way to look up any parts below 1980 by name.  They were forced to throw the old books away by their management just so they couldn't do this.  But I am betting that some folks may have access to these.  I tried to get the old books but was never able to find out where they went.  I think an insider there made off with them.  Thanks.

The 489 pinion has two different sized threads so the washer P/N depends on the size of the pinion nut. If the nut is 1 1/8" the washer P/N is 1556556, if the nut is 1 1/4" the washer P/N is 2070117. The 2070117 was used up to the year 2000 or maybe later.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks John.
I see that there were two pinion splines for the 489 case.  One was 10 spline.  The other was 29 spline.  Fortunately, I have two 489 cases------I went out and made some measurements on the pinion shaft diameter and the size of the pinion nut across the flats.  One was 1-1/8 inch and one was 1-1/4.  The pinion yokes are both installed and I don't have the tool to remove them yet so I am basing all my measurements on just looking at the installed yokes.  I looked up the two pinion washers you quoted.  One is 13/16 inch hole dia (no longer available from Mopar), the other is 15/16 inch hole dia (and is available from Mopar).  So I am guessing that one pinion has a 3/4 inch nut and the other has a 7/8 inch nut.  I will note that Mopar doesn't have the 10 spline pinion yoke available anymore.  They do have the 29 spline.  I called Randy's Ring and Pinion and they have the ring and pinion for 489 case made by Yukon and it is only available in 29 spline.  My question after all of this is:  Is the 29 spline the one that uses the larger pinion nut and washer.  I hope so since this is the case I would like to use.  The other one with the smaller pinion nut is set up for 3.23:1 and has a cone type sure grip in it.  I will be putting a 3.55:1 in the other one and using a plate type sure grip out of a 742 case in it and it's the one that will go in my car.  Thanks for you help.  I appreciate it.

Yes, the 29-spline pinion has 7/8" threads and uses the 1 1/4" nut.

Thanks John.  Just came from Dodge dealer.  Got the 2070117 washer.  Got lucky.  They just happened to have one laying around.  None are in the system and only two are back ordered.  None are currently on order by Chrysler.  Thanks for the info on the 29 spline pinion.
