fuel pump and small block engine resto question

Looking to put a new fuel pump into our 70 challenger convert with a small block.  I know the big block cars had the fuel pump assembled prior to the engine being painted but were the small blocks the same way?  If so, I want to paint it prior to installing it and then touching up the mounting bolts.

Ok, good thing I asked then.  I would have imagined it would have been the same as the big blocks and were painted as the assembly.  I appreciate the heads up on the info.

I thought the same thing but most of the ones I looked at were never painted. Only a couple showed paint but could have been a different year/plant.

Time to put some RPM on the thing and then install it!  Zinc phosphate bolts right?

Yes Sir - The bolts are unique.....did you replate originals?

No but I have the zinc phosphate eastwood paint that I can use.  Im not at the car right now (at work, night shift) but I seem to recall that they have a head with a molded in washer?  Or am I thinking of something else?
