I wanted to know what car this could be from ? and if it will fit in my 73 Charger?

Thanks

If it's a 22"er, then it's 2898043?    '68 383-2bbl manual tranny......   Man, there couldn't have been too many 2bbl 4-speed cars..

i think thats what bull has isnt it?
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

Troy, you sure it's for a 2bbl? I did a Google search and came up with an ad for a 68 RR radiator. That would have been a 4bbl. Tony's Parts lists one as well but it only says 68 b-body 383. Maybe I can dig out the parts book...

As for it fitting, what engine/trans originally came in the 73 and do you have A/C?

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Galen's book shows  the "043" for a 68 383 Manual, but makes no note of 2 or 4 barrel, unlike the 68 383 Auto "044" radiator where he specifies it came with a 383-2bbl.

I have a 383/2bbl/4spd but as said I don't think there would be any distinction between carbs, or even CID for that matter would there? What's the radiator part number for the R/Ts? I always thought that someone with a 4spd R/T would probably have the same 22' radiator as me unless they had A/C. I'll check my part number when I get home and maybe someone with a 383 4bbl 4spd or R/T can weigh in too.

At any rate, it will work on your car but it might be smarter to sell it and buy a new one. I would imagine they are somewhat valuable. :shruggy:

I've got a 2898 043 and a 2898 037. I don't know what the 037 came off of.

no318

SOme 73 had 26" and some 28".  I THINK that AC cars had 28".  I have a 26" out of a big block 71 charger, but it does have a cooler in it.

Presumably a 400 with 4 speed, no 440 with 4 speed after 1972.

Bull-  Here is a handy little site that I use to decifer the radiator codes:

http://www.mopar1.us/radiator.txt

Hope it is useful for everyone.  I know GG white books had the info too, but I loaned them to a "friend" and never got them back.  BTW-I purchased 3 old radiators several years ago off of ebay for $25+$20 shipping for the lot and I think I hit pay dirt : all three are 2949055s, perfect for some of my projects.  Just one digit away from hitting really big paydirt.....

Thanks Chad. One number smaller and you would have had three elephant coolers. :icon_smile_evil:

BTW guys, most of you probably already know this but many radiator shops can replace the inner section of the radiator (everything but the tanks and sides) with a three or four row center and it will cool your engine much better than the original. A good option if it needs to be rebuilt anyway. FYI.

Maybe I will be lucky and find a 2582948 at the Columbia, Mo swapmeet next weekend for my HP2.  Doubtful, but you never know......
