I've read on a couple boards that Florida is one of the states where you can track down previous owners thru the dmv or thru the state system, has anyone done this before? Can you point me in the right direction so i can do a little research work when time permits.   Also, I suspect the car may have done a little time in Alabama, as the previous owner (that i got it from) had lived in Bayminette? Alabama but was living in Florida when i got it, and it had a florida title.  Is there a way to track cars back between the years 1969-78 in Alabama?  It may have been easier to do the backtracking way back when, we did track it back about 3 years or so, but before that the owner had been military and moved.  With the internet these days, and reverse phone lookups etc, its not as hard to track folks down if you're determined.  I know i'm at least the 3rd owner, but could be as many as the 5th, just surprises me that the car was so stock when I got it.

We don't have the benefit of Carfax history reports with our cars, like most cars recently sold.  Wish they had an antique service.

The rest of yall, what are your tips on tracking owners down? what worked for you, what do you recommend?

Thanks again
