Buildsheet experts, what is this code for?

In the section 9 for engine accessories, does anyone know what the number 7 in between N88 and N96 field is for?  Since it is between the two, and the codes normally start on the left and get higher to the right, it would be expected to be higher than N88 and less than N96, and therefore a 7 isn't possible.  So I have to depend on the experts to provide an answer, I'm sure someone must have seen this before and asked someone for an explanation.

Seems like you already read this post........

The 7 in the blank box stands for the N97 noise reduction package.

the reason why I questioned that meaning (by making this thread) is that my car did not come with a breather that had any snorkels on it, nor did it have downturned exhausts.  Also an N97 code should not appear to the left of the n96 code-if you follow the normal reading pattern of left to right ascending numbers.  When I got my car in 78, it was almost 100 percent stock (had slot mags on it) and still had the black snorkeless breather w/pie pan, stock exhaust pipes and tips-even had orig mufflers.  While I've seen that some items coded on the car get superceded by other packages, would the R/T package override the silencer package?  The noise reduction package, according to the white book was mandatory for California, mine isn't a california car (was probably an Alabama car or florida car) The other charger r/t I bought for parts had the same breather/exhaust as mine did so I have to assume mine is stock.

a pic of the factory exhaust tip, don't look downturned to me.

True with the broadcast sheet numbering sequence but if you notice there is no spacer for N97 on there (ie no printed wording)  Safe to assume that this is where thet denoted the N97 on the sheet...
If you look at the other thread you will see N97 on the window sticker as well.  That was a VA car as well.
The R/T model did not supercede the N97 package.  It was either standard on Cali cars or checked off as an option

Swung by a friends house again on the way home tonight, he wasn't home again. I will get that info for you Chris.

Something doesn't look right about those exhaust tips. maybe its just the angle of the photograph, but they look to round.

I agree with you, and the fact that there really isn't a spot for the option to be listed except row 11, which isn't used much for some reason.  Which makes me confused a bit since mine doesn't show any indicators of the noise reduction package, except maybe some sound insulation under the carpets which mine did have.  (a thickly woven mat of coarse material, that tore apart into chunks when removing the factory carpet) I can see that someone could replace the breather pretty easily, but the exhaust tips haven't been swapped, are still on factory hangers etc.  I remember when I first got it, that the tips i had were different than alot of the chargers i'd seen.  (weren't many R/Ts around back then)

Was there a panel of some sort that fit behind the rear seat? I seem to remember something there originally, like a thin fiberboard or sheeting of some type.  Is there a definitive list of what the noise reduction option was besides the dual snorkel/tips?

As far as the angle of the picture, it was pretty close (maybe 4 inches away) these are factory chrome tips though, I've seen some of the repros that look sharper, plus they look better if they were clean and with the bumper on the car.  But I did compare these tips to the other charger r/t i had and they were exactly the same.  (mine were better at the time so I kept the originals on-although today i wish i had taken more parts off before scrapping the car)

I agree. They now make both the rounder edged type like you have, and the squared off type, which many have on restored cars.
