I found a place that I have heard good things about here in Texas who has proposed the following for my 70 Charger 500:

Pull the old 318 motor, transmission & rearend
Paint the engine bay
Rebuild and install new h.p. 440 (Stock)
Rebuild and install new 727
Install new drive shaft
Install new motor mounts
Install new complete 8 3/4 rear with 323 sure grip rear end
All labor and required materials

Grand total of around $8,000 dollars.

I truly do not have the time or experience to not have it done turnkey by someone.  What are your thoughts?  What type of warranty should I expect or require?  What other questions do I need to ask before committing?  What other tasks are required on an engine swap? (tortion bars, suspension, fuel line)

I really appreciate your comments.

that price does not seem out of line.  I spent close to $3000 rebuilding my 440 and did most of the work myself.  taht does not even take into account cleaning and painting engine compartment.  Are you providing the drive train and they are going through it or are they installing components they already have?

thats a pretty reasonable price....       out here in CA we have shops that doing all that will cost $15,000 - $20,000 -----    then again the engine build is $7,000 ect.

41Husk,

Thanks for replying.  They are actually providing a drivetrain they have in that price.  I am anxious to get moving on the project.  Thanks again for replying.

I just did all those things myself except for the shortblock and my total came to $6600.   So you are getting a good deal.  :yesnod:

depends on what kind of rebuild on the motor. that could be $1000 to ?
