383 Exhaust Diameter

I am going to replace the exhaust system on my '68 Charger with a 383 4bbl and stock exhaust manifolds (pretty much a stock set-up). Currently, a 2" dual exhaust is installed.

When I upgraded the exhaust system on my truck, I was told that if the diameter of the exhaust is too big, the engine loses low-end power. Is this true?

What is the largest recommended dual exhaust diameter for a stock 383 4bbl? What have you guys installed on your 383's?

You can have too big.  Mine is 2-1/2 with a few small modifications.  For a stock one, I'd go 2.25 or 2.5 and that'd be about it.  IMO
