I'm swapping out the 2bbl on my Fury with a Performer intake and a 4bbl.  Local guy ran this Carter on his '67 318 for years and years without any problems and pulled it when he upgraded to his big block (convertible Superbird clone).  He's willing to sell it to me for $30 but we don't know the CFMs.  The electric choke broke and he fabbed up a bracket for manual choke.   Any idea what this is?

A non local has a 600 CFM Edelbrock off a Chevy that I can have for $70 shipped.  The bottom left shaft looks bent to me, unsure if it's supposed to be like that.  He said it worked fine when removed a year ago and has 4-6k miles on it.

Thoughts?  I'm not making a screamer, I'm trying to upgrade/repair this car on a serious budget.

the shaft is supposed to be bent, both carbs are essentially the same, both are carter or carter design carbs, the eddy looks like a 1405/1406, i think it's a 600cfm, the carter is most likely the same or a 625cfm carb, nothing wrong with them, the eddy look to be in better shape, both carbs use the same eddy parts, jets/metering rods/springs are the same for the carter, you can use and order eddy parts.  here's the manual for the eddy:  http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/eps_intro.html#contents

The Carter 9636 is a Mopar specific aftermarket 625 CFM carb, notice that the throttle lever duplicates the Mopar design and spacing unlike the more common aftermarket carbs that have the generic GM throttle levers.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

9000 is the aftermarket AFB carbs
625 is the CFM rating for the carb.
Add 10 for 'emissions port' (capped off next to idle mix screws)
and add 1 for Mopar linkage.  (add 0 for chevy, add 2 for Ford).

Add them all up to get 9636.

Put a new hose to connect the choke housing nipple to the air horn intake (both are capped off with a hose & screw).

You can get the parts needed to fix the choke/fast idle linkages.

Clean the carb out, spray out the orifices, jets, bleeds, etc.
