The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

He doesn't seem to feel he's dick smack.  In fact, he seems extraordinarilly proud of what he did to that car.  It actually reads as though any of us would be very lucky to purchase such a rolling work of art.  ::)

I've always thought that there should be a serious reduction in price when someone turns a charger into a GL. The cost of removing the damage!

Yeah.  All the good metalwork I've put into my GL replica (framerails, trunkfloors, passenger floors, quarter skins, fender patches, rear window corners, etc) really doesn't even compare to the structural damage done by those blasted decals.  Too bad.

dodgeboy67

spent all of that money on that hiddeous interior.....and none on the engine bay..... :nutkick:

THE COLONEL

Oh yeah...most of us in the CGLFC have talked about this car, and we all basically have the same opinion...... :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

OK then...when comparing Chargers in equal condition...

What if you buy a genuine 383 four speed car but someone has added RT badges and a Crate Hemi? (devils advocate  :icon_smile_evil:)

-while the show did wreck many Chargers during its production run, some of the most devote Charger lovers are DoH fans. While not knowing the numbers exactly, I'd wager a lot of second generation Chargers are alive and well today due to these folks dedication to preserving examples of the marque. While people are of two camps in liking or not liking the General, someday you may have to thank a fan of the show for providing you an example that is in good shape to return to a factory stocker.
I do not agree with the festivals where they launch a hapless Charger into the stratosphere only for the thrill of seeing it smash upon reentry. But at least they select only poor examples to send back to their maker.
Toss a 1971 hemicuda ragtop off a ramp and you could hear the howls of protest on Mars.

Excellent point.  I am not one who likes the GL's per se but I'd never knock someone for doing one (maybe good-hearted jabs but I have to put up with people calling my 67 a Marlin :scared:).  I don't mind knocking the guy that did the GL that started this thread because that thing is tasteless and he seems to be the only one who doesn't get that.
Then again, it looks like he's from Vegas so maybe it is a perfect example of a Vegas GL?

To replicate that interior, just take a case of x-lax, sit inside your charger, then wait. :icon_smile_big:

you know.some of you may knock the General Lee down thinking its cool, but you know what, if it wasn't for the Dukes of Hazzard back in the day and little kids seeing the show an liking the charger.  Probly in todays life alot of the chargers would have probly went or been in the crusher, the Dukes is what made the 2nd gen chargers so well known, but it was nascar though that back in the day that did the charger. Alot of people dodn't even or knew of the movie Bullit (with Steve McQueen), Forever Young and some of the old movies that has mopars in them. The Dukes made the car stand out. Hell you'll probly knock the new movie that John S made Collier & Company because that has a orange charger in it, and I heard its mix between the Dukes and Smokey and The Bandit.

You all talk about the Dukes smaching alot of chargers up? well they only did 300 chargers back in the day and 17 Wayne Wooten got, plus the new movie of 05 went through like maybe 4 chargers, thats not very many if you look at how many the factory really made back in '68 to 69 to 70. There are still alot of chargers out there yet. Just don't go picking on the General Lee because of his paint job because that is what made him uneak really.

And the price really doesn't have the thing to do with the paint job, it depend on who is looking for the car and likes the car more, so they change it from the factory color so what! maybe they didn't like the color to begin with LOL ??? an was just looking for a charger they could work on. Heck I seen chargers on line here that was really pounds and even half in the ground and was almost nothing there and those people (you know who you are) got these chargers and bought them back to life and stuck alot of work into them and down the line have people say he ruin the car by making it a General Lee well why didn't you get the car an make it the way you wanted? because you didn't think it was worth it then and now your alittle upset because these guy did somthing with the car. Yea some interiors is somtimes out of this world LOL and I'll admit what in the heck was they thinking? LOL

well I'll disagree with you on that, the interior doesn't look right but the out side doe though but maybe those rims was all he could find or maybe thats the kind he likes.  ???

Ghoste

Truthfully, I don't think that guy is really one of you (the GL purists).  I'm thinking he did that car exactly how he wanted.  If you can afford that kind of "custom" interior, you can afford to get some Vectors.

gnrl01

I am pretty reserved when it comes to knocking someones car, I personally would not have done my interior this way and a few other things..but he obviously spent some money on it and I actually posted a pic of it in my unigue General Lee sections. Believe me there are far worse versions of the general out there, at least he did use a charger even though we may not agree with how it looks. It is better to have it out there this way then in the old crusher. Just my two cents and not intended to offend anyone..Peace Brothers :icon_smile_blackeye: :icon_smile_big:

Sorry if I offended anyone! My comments were a little strong. I guess everyone has their tastes and everyone has the right to do what they want with their own car! Party on..

Hey, no biggie.  I responded pretty sarcastically too, even though I suspected you were only kidding.

Us DOH fans have gotten pretty defensive about the "ruining Chargers" thing because too many people still say it and they're not joking.  They just don't get it that most GL replicas were built from cars as raggedy as any other '69s in the hobby.  But most real Charger guys know the deal nowadays.  We all fight many of the same battles when trying to restore any old Mopar, regardless of what color paintjob ends up on top.

Yeah, I agree.  The Ebay'd General Lee in the pics has some . . . umm, well . . . "questionable" interior decoration work.
