Okay I am in West Palm Beach this week doing some work. I rented a 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo SS V8 the car is pretty fast and has nice growl to the engine. But here is a question for you guys

When I take the traction control off and put it in 1st gear and try to spin the tires something wierd happens. The tires will spin for like a half turn grab then spin another half turn then grab about 3 or 4 times and then it will just launch. It doesnt jerk the car it is just like it the tires caught traction but it's like the engine drops the RPM and then picks up again and spins it again.

It almost acts like the traction control is still engaged any ideas on what is up with this car. BTW I tried to drag race a new Charger at a light but he would not go for it.

Dude, you have no idea how much time I spend on the road, I am headed back to Canada next week for at least a month to work on a project for CIBC. I have enough frequent flyer points and Marriott reward points to take my entire family all five of us to Aruba spend 2 weeks there in a four bedroom beach villa and fly the whole family there first class and still have enough points left over to qualify for a 3 day Robert Trent Jones Golf School in North Carolina. So yea I do a bit of traveling for work.

I did see a small car show held at a shopping center in Belleville last week, someone there had a super nice 69 Charger along with a few Dusters and a couple of Cuda's and Challengers

I'll be in Brampton next week I'll get some peameal then and since I'll be there for a month we could go out for beer you could join DodgeChargerFan and I when we go out and cruise around Toronto with his C-Barge ..............

the traction control in most new cars never goes away-even with the switch turned off.last winter i took a new magnum and was trying to do doughnuts with it on ice,and after one complete turn it would kick back on,same thing with the monte

We have a 2000 police special package Ford Crown Victoria here at work and I took it for a spin on the parkway and the car is suprinsinly quick! But at a stop with the traction switch off or on, I could'nt spin the tires, but it jumps off the line very quickly! strange set up thou. Suspension is very nice too, oh and I dont care fords.  :yesnod:

The coolest is driving down the highway and cars slowing down and moving out of the left lane to let you go by. :D

I rented a Monte in Hawaii and I didn't like it at all, mostly cause the ugly I just squeezed one out shape.
with  so much wasted space, a huge car that didn't have a quality feel, and confusing switch gear, it simply felt cheap and poorly designed, I did like the bright mettallic blue color but that was about it...
I much prefered the Grand Prix we had rented before but i hated it's demonic red interior guage and switch lighting...
that's just my opinion but i never drove either GM product hard either.
The SRT Charger i rode in a couple weeks ago had the T.C. issue too,..
Kind'a takes the fun out of it don't it?..   :-\

Just 6T9 CHGR

Maybe its a rental company thing.....they actually bypass the switch on the dash so it remains on???

Really, I prefer the Monte over the GP I like the tight feel, I got the blue one too and the interior is leather and it's got like 18" or 20" wheel package I did not check. But I like the gauge package over the GP too. different tastes I guess. I have not rented a car that I really like too I did get a mudstain once and I do not like them at all. I am waiting to get a Charger but Budgdeath does not have them yet.

Not sure the little traction control light goes on when I press the button and the dash computer says that traction control has been turned off. I don't figure the Budget Mechs are that advanced to know how to disable the button so it does not actually turn it off.......

I go the old man route - comfort and style!

I looked at a couple of those and at the CTS when I was looking for a new car. Really liked them both, lots of neat little features and gadgets I wasn't used to. However, after the Monte Carlo I'm leery of GM products and the way I saw it, that's more stuff liable to break or malfunction.

In the end, RWD and brand loyalty won out, so I got the Charger.

I know, I know...that's what everyone (even my grandmother and 6 year old cousin) told me. But yeah...I was looking at "pre-owned" DeVilles or into leasing a new CTS.

I was going insane with all the little (and not so little) shit that was wrong with the Monte Carlo, so it had to go. I really wasn't planning on doing it yet though - I was thinking more like early next year. You know how that goes though...when you find the right car, you gotta seize the opportunity.

I'm being patient with the '74 though...it's been parked for 3 years at this point....whats an extra couple of months?

Some companies actually do that.  I know of a local company that rents exotics and whatnot, and they bypass the switch with their 'Vettes and anything else that has a traction control system...

OK this week I get a 2006 Mustang GT. Woohooo this thing ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will do a power brake and will SMOKE the tires and does an AWESOME power slide :icon_smile_evil: !!! It is  steady as a rock and the steering is tight when doing a power slide around corners.

Draw backs are the hood vibrates and looks like it's going to fly off at 85 MPH and lotsa wind noise but handeling is great. It does not have lotsa low end torque but will kick it once you get rolling!............

Want to go for a ride in the GT?  I love abusing this thing..................

BTW you can change the backlight colors for the speedo and Tach pink looks really nasty for car gauges orange is not to bad.

PM me if you want to get together.............
