Repro bumper quality

Anybody have experience with the quality of Year One bumpers?  Is the Chrome show quality?  Or am I better off finding a re-chromable core?

bull

I don't know if it was a Year One repro I saw once last summer but the thing was really wavy. It looked good straight on but from the side it was a washboard. Other than that I've heard that most repro bumpers look good. It's not rocket science so you'd think they could make them look fine.

Finding a place to rechrome bumpers (and in some cases make them straight) can be a big challenge. Environmental regulations have shut many chromers down.

just bought something from summit, and noticed that the bumbers there are cheaper than year one's, don't know about the quiality though...

i bought mine off of ebay, i think they where goodmark. they looked good. straight and not wavey . Rene
I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

I allways will preffer the original one rechromed. I don't trust on repro parts unles they are the only source.
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

I got some repros for my car they are not bad but have some waves. If you want to get yours rechromed send them to tri-city plating, they are one of the best.

I think Goodmark is the only company producing the bumpers so they should be the same no matter who you get them from. I've heard good things about them from guys who have bought them. If they are a bit wavy I've heard they will do an exchange for better ones so it's nice to have a local supplier.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

FWIW, i purchased the bumpers for my 68 from Year One. After some prodding to the sales rep he told me that they were in fact made by Goodmark. I'm pleased with the quality and have no issues running them on my car when the resto is completed.  :yesnod:

THE CHARGER PUNK

i think the only problem with the repop bumbers is the front bumperettes stick above the bumper and look stupid-MATT

Dodge Charger front bumpers on cars built after January 1st, 1969 all got the taller bumprettes from the factory.  The 1968 Chargers and early-build 1969 Chargers all had the shorter bumprettes we're more familiar with.

I think all the Goodmark reproductions are the shorter-style bumprettes.

Does anybody know about the steel quality of the repro bumpers?  Are they lightweight/thin crap steel, or are they still decent materials like the old bumpers?

i if i remember  correctly  i  read or heard they were thin gauge steel  , can't be sure though :-\

You sure about that date Mike?.. cause the majority of '69s seem to have the shorties.. So was it a A fed. Reg.. or a different vendor as i've  allways thought?..
by the way,  it took me a heck of a long time to find my bumperettes,.. were talkin years here..  :-\

'n while we're on the subect,.. (kinda')
Why does my dash have no provision for the hazard rocker switch?..
(mine was one of the last '69s built BTW:)

as   (Mike DC) says  68 's  and  early build 69 's  had short ones  , i always thought the taller bumperrets were introduced  around may 69  :shruggy:
