Fire destroys Metro Parts Company

Been on the phone with Joel (owner of Metro) the last couple of days and while he was on vacation the Metro business burned down. This is the result of a very unfortunate incident. Needless to say the damage is to hard to put into a dollar figure. Thousands of NOS antennas- gone. Add to it the custom tooling that was in house and the raw material on hand. He had a collection of sheetmetal ranging from hoods to fenders that he used to test fit moldings on that were destroyed.
His goal is to have some part of the business up and running within the next six months to a year.
Here are some pics..

Man that really does hurt to look at.  I've purchased my grill moldings & rocker moldings from them as well.
Hopefully they were insured for the replaceable stuff......sad to see those antennas wasted :(

Damn! Send him my regards.

I was seconds away from buying an antenna from him at MOPARFest when my daughter dragged me away to look at something else.
I was just looking at their ad in a magazine and thinking about the grille moldings, too..

I hope he gets things sorted out and all the best comes his way.

Troy

Wow! That's horrible.  :'( I hope things are up and running again quickly.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

TruckDriver

I never heard of them, but it still sucks never the less :rotz:

Metro Parts, as the one in Coon Rapids, MN????

Words can't even do justice to how discouraging that must be.  I bought an antenna from them a few years back and they were good folks to deal with.  I hope he's back on his feet quickly.

I think it was a conspiracy from the Chebby guys. :icon_smile_evil:

That really sucks, especially because of the irreplaceable original parts that were lost. :rotz: I hope his insurance treats him right.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I believe that Metro Parts was the only place making the repop rocker moulding for 68-70 B-Bodys.  Don't know if their stock/production jigs were destroyed in the fire.  But found out that Year One has had the mouldings+clips sets on backorder since May.  But they did have 10 mouldings w/o the clips.  9 now since I ordered and received one.  They list the clips separately but said that they are sourced from another company.  The clips are on backorder too but they said they would have no trouble getting them.  I hope thats the case since I have the clips backordered.

RJS

Why don't you just call Tom Race at R/T specialties for your clips????

Chatt69chgr

Thanks RJS.  I looked at the RT Specialties website and note that they have them.  Too late now for me as I have already processed the order via Year One.  Will cost me about $15 more it looks like.  If Y1 doesn't come thru, good to know about another source.
