nissan altima problems

Got this 94 altima that sputters when you try to give it gas. Replaced plugs/wires so far. It started happening just all of sudden while driving.

Check the fuel pressure if you can-not sure what it should be -45 lbs? -sometimes the pump or even the hose from the pump in the tank goes bad.

Engine light come on? I know the local Advance/Auto will pull the codes for free................hoping you will then get the needed part from them of course.

The oil in the distributor is a VERY common issue with the Altimas. Its the first thing i check when one comes in the shop for a no start or intermittent cutting off issue. The oil may not be visible with just the cap removed. pull off the rotor button, them remove 2-3 screws that hold plate over the optical pick up. At this point, oil will probably start running out. The oil interferes with the optical pick part of the distributor.

so just drain oil and it should fire up and run good?

depends if you want to fix the car properly or do things in a half ass manner. To fix it properly, you replace the distributor. If you want to half ass it, take some brake cleaner, clean all of the oil out, and put it back together. The oil is a result of wear to the dist bushing and seal. The oil is coming up the shaft into the dist housing.

Yes isn't funny how some of us think we know all about some one just by reading these posts on here. Have anybody here ever try those dating services where you chat on line and later on get together ? Meeting somebody in person is way different than reading a few posts here everyday.
