What 1969 color is the most valuable when it comes to resale? I ask becuase the prices are all over the place on ebay. I can't seem to find a trend. Right now there is a Viper blue Charger on ebay that is commanding some serious dollars and its not even a stock color. Can someone enlighten me?

And what colors are the worst in terms of resale?

No bites?  What the heck - not an expert, but I'll jump in... ;)

Well, I don't think that there is one particular color that is more "valuable" than another. Well...sort of. :P  A better word than "valuable" would be "desired." ;)

With that said -
The "99 99" special order colors (one was a ralley green and the other was yellow, if I'm not mistaken) could be considered collector colors, and thusly be seen as more valuable.  Also, one of the mods of this wonderful board (and the guy who runs the 69 registry) has a V2 orange car - killer car, BTW ;).  V2 is somewhat desirable because it was only available in the spring of '69.

But, I think you notice that with all musclecars, certain colors seem to command higher prices.  Bright reds, blues, and oranges seem to command more than, say, white or a tan colored car. (Keep in mind, some people LOVE white or tan, but I'm completely generalizing).  Black cars, especially second generation Chargers, could be seen as more desirable.  I know some people who specifically look for B5 blue Chargers.

As for the Viper blue car you've seen - you got me.... ???  I have no idea why that car might be going for more than expected.

I'm a designer for a living - I work with colors all day long - and the one thing I do know....it's a very, very subjective world out there.  It's all in the eye of the beholder... :icon_smile_cool: :yesnod:

Hope that helps.....

DS440, I thought you said you weren't an expert?  ;)

Well, neither am I...that's why I chose the multi-color route with my mopars:

68 Charger RT - yellow (originally B5 but I really can't stand B5)
69 Charger RT - plum crazy (not original but who really cares)
68 Super Bee - it's blue but I'd prefer it yelllow
04 Hemi - black (cuz you gotta have one black one)

Safe investment I would say

1969 Charger RT
1968 Super Bee
1970 Super Bee V Code

All depends on who you ask.

It all comes down the ' beauty is in the eye of the beholder'  Color rarely accounts for any kind of price increase (key word is rarely) but it will count for a small decrease on some colors (like green ) Which is fine by me, I like green cars and would actually prefer one over a red car for example. Would  I pay more for a Purple car as an example ?????, Not a chance.

I'm with you gtx6970,I would choose a green car over red.The one that got away from me in 98 when looking for a 69 R/T,at the mopar nats was a triple green R/T SE ,white stripe.A friend was there, called me with the description and price,I gave the green light, when he went back ,it was gone.Couple months later found my present one,69 R/T , B5,white top and stripe. The color combo is nice, but my top choice is tied between triple black or T5 copper, white top ,white stripe.Very, very, very close to changing but decided to leave orig.

because the colors vary from year to year it depends on the year..
seems Black and B-5 blue Red and Orange are very popular,.. of course as noted above the special spring colors and hi-impacts (70-) are pretty desirable... I like the Blues my self,... golds which are actually called bronzes don't seem to be that popular,.. some time it's simply a matter of the condition of the paint rather then the color... it'self...
it's largly subjective... personally i don't like yellow... but i don't go knocking folks who do...  :rotz:
one thing about the greens are that were so many different shades and cars that color...
while the dark blues that i prefer are rare...
8 out of ten folks will spin donuts and do wheelies over black chargers... mine was black for 14 years,.. but impossible to keep clean and really,.. really hot... especially when the Int. is too.

Thanks for all the info. Currently my car is yellow and I THINK the original color is white. I don't think that white really flatters the body lines of the car. hmm

A panther Pink car will cost you 3 times more then if it was White or gold or tan in my Opinion. That 69 1/2 6 pak Super Bee that got $200,000 at Barrett-Jackson was Bright Rally Green (code F6). Doubt it would have gotten that much if a different uglier color. How many people ever seen a Green car with Green stripe? LEON.
