Hey everyone,
I just bought this on ebay. I'm looking for ya'll to tell me I did alright on the price.  Not my optimum case choice but it has the clutch style grip in it.  I wanted 3.55's but I'm settling a little.  Any input what my performance difference will be from 2.7's to 3.2's would be greatly appreciated(383,727,484 MP cam,msd ignition, 750HP carb, if that helps)or any tips or tricks when I swap the chunk out.  Looks pretty simple.
Thanks in advance, now I need a yoke.

Guess what I did the samething 13 years ago but went from a 2.45 to a 3.23  but I kept my open rear end the guy who swap the gears had a good open carrier for the higher gears, enjoyed it for a few years then but knew it was holding the motor back a little. Then they raised the speed limit to 70 on the freeway right by my place so that made my mind up and I pulled the whole axle out and had it clean , painted black and put a 3.91 posi unit in it. Best $750 I spent , its been 10 years now. Oh yeah in August 2001 I threw a rod on that freeway and 2 months and $3500 later my motor was rebuilt. Everything working just fine. I am telling you all this so you know, if you go too high in the gearing you do what I did unless you have a well built motor. Those 3.23 gears will make a big difference, your second gear will pull much better. Good thing you have that vacuum secondary carb. a DP might not like those gears at some speeds but your combo is perfect. Did you know gears cost $300 now of days ? You got a good buy, 3.23 are not as $ as the 3.91-4.10's but believe me its ok. I was so happy for 3 years with them and if I ever drove it to Florida for the winter the 3.23 gears would go back in, I still have them.

Will going from an open to a limited-slip differential affect the car's performance or behavior in any other ways, other than the ability to lay down the double-patch?  I'm still considering the installation of a limited-slip unit myself...

Yes it will and the more power you have the more the change. If you don't drive on loose gravel or dirt roads or in the rain it will work great for you. Going around the conner the tires will squeal less, it might fishtail if you give it too much gas so it takes a little getting used to. Not sure how short your gears are but once you are over 3.55 you almost need it or the one tire will spin alot.
