In other news...I was at a burger king the other day and the most efficient guy there was the retarded kid wrapping the sandwiches.

I always knew Silver had to have some kind of talent at something.

He forgot to mention that it probably was one of your mexican cousins that gets underpaid...oh wait, he's Mexican AND retarded? He works there free

You's guys gots to admit - this response was funny.   :yesnod:

Well, I'm still wiping the tears from my eyes.  :D  It was pretty damn funny.

Even I was impressed. Who knew Silver had it in him? Usually the only thing in him is a d!ck.

you mean developmental disability right?  ::)

No - I am pretty sure he meant to say retarded.  OC knows his stuff.

I am pretty sure I know my stuff too in this regard.  I work with individuals who have physical, mental, and developmental impairments every day.

It is not so much as being PC as it is attempting to get those to use verbiage that does not promote a negative stigma about those that have disabilities.

What if the kid he was referring to was your child?  Would you allow such wording to be used in your presence, or would you rather attempt to educate those on the negative repercussions of their labeling?

I wont comment on this anymore because it will just further propagate the hijacking of this thread, but if you have questions, please pm me or email me.

"Retarded" is a perfectly acceptable term to anyone who's not overly sensitive. So is black, indian, fat, Mexican, old, etc. White-washing normally acceptable terms to describe people does nothing but irritate the average person and make arrogant language nazis feel better about themselves. I'm not saying this is you RD but it is the PC movement in a nutshell.

Or, as Ted Nugent puts it, "Political Correctness is about turning a blind eye to painful reality because your comfortable feelings are more important to you than saving lives and providing quality of life to people who work their ass off to be productive and are a benefit to this great American Dream."
