I'm having a brain fart here. :-[

What's the difference between a non-thermostatic fan clutch and a thermostatic fan clutch?

My Dad taught me about TIME TRAVEL.

Non-thermo has a silicone fluid in it that allows the fan to slip at higher rpm when it's needed less.  There is no specific point where it slips, it's just a function of the amount of force to make the silicone shear.
Thermo has a bimetallic spring on the front that tries to make sure the silicone clutch is engaged at hotter temps.  I forget the exact mechanics of how it does this but that is the basic method of the two.
