I've been given a 69 RT car for parts and it still has the original 4 piston disc set up on the front.  The rotors are rusty and thin and I was not even going to go through the trouble of attempting to rebuild the calipers.  My question is can the spindles be used with later style rotors and calipers?  I'm thinking I'll run into problems with the caliper mounting. If this wont work for me and someone needs this set up for  a correct resto just PM me.

No, the spindles will not work with later set ups as the later set ups had a bracket that the calipers mounted to.  The 1966-1969 disc brake set up had the caliper bolt directly to the spindle.  Also, you have a PM.

Actually, the calipers are probably the most valuable part of that setup. Some NOS/OEM junkie would probably pay you good money for them and then you could buy an aftermarket setup that works better with the money you make. Right now those old calipers have to be rebuilt, and I haven't talked to anyone who has had that done that without paying gobs of money.

I rebuilt the front end, including rotors, calipers and pads last summer on my '69 Charger R/T SE.  You are right, the 4 piston calipers were almost impossible to find and the existing ones could not be locally rebuilt.
After 6 weeks of searching we were about to give up and retrofit the car with a later model brake and spindle system when we found a place in Georgia that had a set of new, 4 piston calipers and rotors sitting on a shelf.

Still had to hunt around to find the right pads, but finally got everything.

Thats what I figured.  All I've done to the car is pull it on to the trailer then unloaded it into the garage.  This weekend I'll start ripping it apart and will be able to better insp the condition of the disc set up.  Thanks Guys,  Mike

If you don't use those originals, I'd be interested in buying them from you.  :icon_smile_big:
