I had a bad day today. I was bolting the flexplate to the flywheel and 1 of the 4 bolts didnt seem to take.  The other 3 went on fine and I got them tight. I know its not the bolts.  I know its the fastener thats welded to the flywheel that is stripped.   So now what do I do???   Should I try taping in a coarse thread to see if it will take? Of should  go a size bigger and tap a new one?  What will it do to the balance? In not sure how much it takes to get the car vibrating down the highway..

The best repair is a thread repair insert that maintains the original thread size, not easy to do in the shallow lugs but it's doable.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Another option is to have the threaded hole welded up shut.....then drilled and retapped....or, have the pad removed and a new one welded in.
