Hello again!

Trying to repair a 4401s AVS carb for my 68 383 charger.

The jets and rods are kind of beat up, and I know I can replace them with modern Edelbrock parts.

I was able to find the correct jet sizes in the assembly manual (.089 for primary and secondary) so that will be easy.

However, on the rods the manual lists them as 16-546.

Edelbrock has no listing for such a part number, but I suspect there is an equivalent.

Does anyone know of either a) the correct edelbrock rod or b) a site that will give me the correct dimensions for a 16-546 rod so I can find the correct edelbrock part number?

Thanks!

Can you measure your rods with a caliper?  I believe AVS rods have three steps, AFB only two.

These are the later AVS rods that are only 2-step. So they're a perfect match

I was able to get out my caliper and measure them, and to the best of what I could tell (and also by looking at available rod sizes from Edelbrock), it appears that a 16-546 = .062x.052.

So the jets are .089 and the rods are .062x.052. It also turns out that a 62x52 rod with a .089 jet size is the rich end configuration for an Edelbrock 500CFM carb. Not sure what CFM these original Carters are, but it makes sense.

Anyone have a 383 auto car with a Carter that could confirm?
