spedo going crazy...

my spedo works fine up to 40 mph but as soon as i hit 40 its starts bouncing all over the place and i hear a buzzing type sound... 

any clues?

What in particular. I made sure it was in and what not? Does it need to be greased? If so i guess i just stick some grease on the end and call it a day eh?

If the cable isn't shot, then the lube might clear up the problem.

I'd go that route first.

Remove cable, pull out the "core", clean w/cloth to remove dirt, spray w/lube, reinstall. Worked for me
