HI All just a note as I look like Spanky from our gang, been working on my girl all weekend and took a vacation day today so I could get something done.(4 days of dodge charger will have to last till next weekend LOL)  Pulled my original gas tank out of my 69 and it still has gas in it maybe a pint. tank is crushed up on bottom but still shiney inside! It had never been out.bought car as a shell with nothing but rear springs and gas tank.was wondering (Now my question) is there any way on earth to tell what rear end this car originally came with? no build sheet,no fender tag. I know it was a tach car It still has the lead coming out firewall and I think it had disc brakes as it has a little brass block about a foot back on rear brake line. (car had no front spindles when I bought it) its non a/c 4 speed 4 barrel 383 car. Wish I could get her dipped and sealed but next time around as I want to go for a ride.Looks like this note turned into a story.Love the web site, thank you so much you great bunch of charger Heads. 70daytonaclone :icon_smile_big:

Are you speaking only of the frame or the pannels.  The trunk lip on the right has or should have the last 6 or 7 digits of the serial number stamped there ( never quite remember)

A 383 4 speed car would have came form the factory with a 8-3/4 rear.

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

mikepmcs

most likely with 3.23's or 3.55's SG, just a guess though.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

MOPARHOUND!

Noting that it is not a factory A/C car.........

If it has a 26" factory radiator support, it came with either a Peformance Axle Package (3.55 sure-grip) or a High Performance Axle Package (3.91 sure grip).  These Packages came with the Max Cool 26" radiator and were available on 383-4v 4 speed Chargers.

The 3.23 could also of been had with the sure-grip as an option without the above packages, but the radiator support would be 22".
