charger engine options

I am looking to buy a '71 charger with a slant six.  Does anyone know how many '71's were built with that engine?   Any help would be appreciated.

I wish I could help you out there.   I just can't seem to bring myself to use the term Slant 6  and Charger in the same sentence...lol    They ARE bullet proof engines though.

What codes do I need to look for to tell if it is a real slant six car.  Is there a code in the vin number on those models that designated a six cylinder?  Also, what fender tag code do I look for?  Most codes I see are for the 318 and up models.  That is the only reason I would want the car is because it was a six, and they are so unusual.

  I dont have the serial number now, but I will get it.  The /6 is interesting in a charger.  I saw in another post that the white book has no information on '71 /6 chargers.   So, I assume that no one has production numbers on the six cylinder cars.

I don`t , they would be rare
the vin # would be WP23C for a slant

I've seen exactly one slant six third generation charger in my life. It was a '73 I passed on when I lived in NJ back in 1980.

That is exactly why I want the car.  It would be more of a conversation piece than anything.  Whenever I get the car I will post pics.  The car is supposed to be pretty good shape.  It is a southern car.  It was bought new by a woman because she wanted good mileage.  The guy who has it now (the second owner) bought it from the lady a few years ago.  He took the engine out for an overhaul, but now he has run out of money so he is selling the car.

I've driven A bodies and a Ram truck with /6 but never a B body...

If its the original motor in it, I would put it up on e-bay a few times.Who knows maybe some jerk with more money than brains would pay $50,000 or so. Hey I would not even want it but who knows, Yeah I put it on e-bay with a $50,000 revs, just might cost alot, but you would get to sele how much people think its worth. If the bidding gets high enough that you want to sell it you can lower the res. now while the biding is still going. Good luck.

I'm sure the car is not that valuable, but it would just be neat to have.  If I can get the car I will post pics.  I probably could win a few bets.  Most would never believe a car that size would have a six.  I wonder why the second gen slant six cars are all documented, and the 3rd gen are not?  I guess the second gen have always been more popular.  With only around 210 '70 sixes made, there could not have been many '71's

Talk about overkill...\6 with 8 3/4 rear.  Later years would have a 400 etc and 8 1/4
