Was thinking of painting the blasted spokes of my TTOs body color. Any opinions? *Rough* estimate of plum crazy... but you get the idea...

powder coat them that color. Probably would be around 50-75USD a wheel

Hate to say it but I think you would have to see them on the car..... Unless you could photo shop them on Fred.  I would suggest a power coat of black chrome.... nice look.

Any opinions?

Yuck.

Hehehe... yuck to the whole idea? Or just that image -- terribly hard to simulate (metallic) plum crazy on there..

I agree that you would need to see them on the car to get a good idea.  I know I have seen magnum 500's where the black portion was painted body color and they looked like crap in my opinion but I don't know about a torque thrust.  Without seeing them on the car I would have to say don't mess with a good thing.   ;)

I don't "Hate em", have to see them on car/color. They would definitely look better than some 20" dubs or crap like that on a mopar

48chebbie

i don't know, might look pretty snazzy in plum crazy,i am just real fond of them just the way they are.
how'd i do that!?!?!?

RT DAVE

If I were going to modify them, I would go flat black with the spokes.   Not a big fan of the body color.   It really only matters what you like, doesn't it?

Thanks for all the feedback on this -- I know it's ultimately up to me - kind of undecided and interested in the viewpoints of folks on here and the reasons...

Quickly did this. Don't get me wrong, I bought them specifically for that blasted finish, and seeing them on that wagon above sure has me leaning in the don't touch em' direction... looks awesome.... I think half of my motivation is maintaining the look of that finish...

..then again, I'll be treating the car like a baby (though driving it, that's for sure) when it's done, so keeping some wheels looking sharp is a bit of a lame reason I suppose...

...but I also love the look of standard wheels with body color in there...so I thought.... hmm... maybe....

Anyhow... quickly did this... perspective is a bit off on the spokes, but from a couple feet back, you get the idea....It's a 74'...mines, a 71'...but still...

i think it looks ok man, im a fan of satin balck on stuff like that i did that on a portion of my crappy road wheels i really like it but my dad thinks it looks like crap lol....Mike

I don't know looking at it on the car I kinda like it.   :scratchchin:  I think it would look tougher with the original finish but the purple looks pretty good.  It would definitely be different.

I prefer the black gloss or black chrome.  Never was a big fan of body color wheels.

I love body color wheels, I think it looks great. Besides it is something you don't see every day. I would say go for it but it is still up to you.

I don't mind the body color wheels on some cars but on a car as big as a 3rd gen Charger, that is just too much purple in the side profile.  It needs something to break it up a little.  But that's just for my taste, you should do what you want.

plum500

Thanks again for all the input from everyone.

I still think it's a possibility for some application, but I think I'll leave em' for now. Though I do also like the suggestions about black.

But...for one, because they are new, and I do like that finish -- maybe if they were an old set I had that needed cleaning up it would be something to try... and two, what Ghoste said about breaking things up a little -- I'm not going to have white lettering on the tires as in the photoshop, so there's even less contrast there.... I think the wheel as it is will be the right look.

And I want to get this thing on the road soon!!! So I don't need to add more work to the list :)

I kno a couple guys that did that with rallye wheels. Looks like crap. But if YOU like it, than go for it. It's your car.

In a lighter color it would look better I think, I wouldn't do it though.
