Checked out where my leak is coming from in the '69. I thought it might have been the wipers but, they are good. My new repo windshield gasket is leaking around the lower corners and running in under the dash corner. I was wondering if some sealant could be put in the outside leading edge to seal it up better? I think some others have this problem and wondered if there is a cure for us.

I know when I pulled the windshield out of my 68, there was alot of sealant around the corners, between the seal and the body.  You can always try some sealant around the seal under the trim, anything is better than pulling the windshield.

It could also be coming in fromt he wiper pivot areas on the cowl.  They are prone to having the gasket dry out and crack and then leak.  There is a guy who I saw in Mopar Collectors Guide that has a kit to rebuild your wiper pivot and add a grease fitting to prevent the pivot part for freezing up.

Granted, the corners of the windshield are also known to leak.  From what I have heard, a strip of butyl tape was supposed to be put on the bottom part of the channel and then the windshield put in with the  gasket.

The wiper seal is good I already checked those first. That is when I noticed the water coming in on top of the dash corner. The guy that installed my windshield was close to clueless on these old cars so the butyl in the corners was not done. I think spreading the outside face of the gasket and applying some sealant in there is about my only option at this point.

I just fixed a windshield leak yesterday, but 3rd gen don't uses gasket. anyway since windshield lip was rebuilt, I had to replace the moulding clips stitches with screws. One of screws got loosen. Need to replace it with a bigger one and apparently fixed.

Mine leaks as well.....It seems to be coming from the top corners & running down & puddling on the inside corners.....when I get caught in the rain (seems like a few times a year :( ) I put pieces of chamois cloth in the corners to sop up the water :rotz:

Seems to be an inherant problem.  Note to self.... Don't take the car out in a rainstorm.

make the installer redo it, i did. you paid for a non leaking installation. :flame: when they came back to do mine they laid sealant all the way around the seal. no more leak. :icon_smile_big:

Mine would not guarantee against leaks as when they installed my new gasket and reused my old windshield, their claim was it was not "Their" windshield therefore they could not guarantee against any leaks. ::)

I won't have any luck with the installer. I waited over 6 months for a special order clear windshield from a glass supplier as noone can get clear in my area at all.

Mine seems to be leaking down under the windshield over into the dash and then down the ends. I can actually push my windhshield out a little bit from the inside so it is not sealed good. Everything looks good as far as the seal goes though. I dumped some water along the lower edge and quickly stuck my head under the dash and it was coming in right behind the headlight switch and vacuum lines. If I get that sealed up then it probably will leak where yours does.  I have been using the chamois trick too. :-\

The good news is it still does not leak as bad as my 77' Hurst T-top Trans Am...that will give you a shower for sure.  ;D
