What's the best process to remove the tail light bezel from the tail light?  Looking at the several tail lights that I have, the posts appear to be mushroomed in order to hold the bezel to the tail light.  If you grind it, or drill it out, there is nothing left to re-attach the bezel to the tail light.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Grek

if you are sure you don't need to remove it a gain. as it is very difficult to un unstick on this shape.  / i used automotive windshield glass urethane glue. where disposable gloves as once it gets on your skin it is difficult to remove . to remove excess that squeezes out, use  car bodypanel wipe/degreaser & plenty of lint free cloth , do not use thinners as it will turn the plastic soft (melt it)  it takes about 1/2 to 2 hours to cure ,dependant on humidity and type used.

I just took the chrome rings off of my tail lights and all I used was a punch tool and a hammer.  With a little bit of care, I just punched the mushroomed part of the chrome posts through the plastic tabs that they were mounted through.  A couple of tabs broke, but that will happen as they are 37 years old.  I guess you could lubricate them a bit with a little CLP first as that might help break them a little easier. Good Luck!

Half of the tabs were broken on mine. I roughed up the remnants of the tab and a little arrea around it with 80- grit paper and reattached the trim with marine epoxy. They are still solid after 2 years.

Thank you everyone for the information.  It's always an adventure.
