Is 1/2 inch the correct size for a 400? Because thats what was on my car when I got it, that is what I bought to replace the old hoses, but I can't get the new hoses to fit back on the heater core. I tried everything to get them to slid on, but all I am doing is tearing up the inside of the hose. What gives ???

it is either 5/8" or 3/4" pete.  just measure your inlet/outlet on your water pump housing (outside diameter) and gauge it from there.

The hot water supply should be 1/2" and the return should be 5/8".
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

They both look the same size though. And, which one is which?
