I ordered a speedo cable for my charger last year on ebay.  It's to long and ended up getting burnt on one of the exhaust pipes.  The length is 80"
Anyone have the correct length for the speedometer cable for a 440/727?  Like a ding bat I threw the shorter length original out.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

correct length should be about 60" although all the repros I have found are 80" since all the repros are the same length I just ordered one from my local parts store thats the same length but about $30 cheaper than year one, paddock, etc. its a ATP Y-819 if memory is correct I took the extra length and kinda made a loop under the dash.

Wow, great info, thanks.  I told the guy on ebay it was longer than mine and he said that was the correct size (80).  I said well the one on the car now fit's nice and this one seems to long?  My speedo was kinda jumping around and I went to pull the cable to lube it with graphite powder and then I saw it melted on the pipe.  Thanks.  :2thumbs: I'll try Pep Boys today.
I take it you don't have A/C because there is no room under my dash for any looping.

To late for me, I ordered it at PEP Boys.  25.00
Of course the girl at the counter said  Nope.  I said what you can't get a speedo cable?  I had to beg her to look it up, and it was there.

If you bought the 80in version - save your money and don't get it. It's WAYYYY too long. you'll end up with a giant mess. TRUST ME and don't even bother with that one.

If you HAVE to get a parts store version, get the one for a 71 Charger. It's 68in long - you'll only be a few inches too long and it's going to fit much, much better without a lot of slack and won't burn on your exhaust.

Remember neither of these have the grommet.

Honestly, the OEM version is heads and tails above the others in terms of fit, are the correct length and have the grommet. More expensive, but they work. Check out Ebay ID 320306453521

I may be coming in late here, but I was lucky enough to find a 66/67 B-body NOS speedo cable at a swap meet a few years back.

I just took it out of the carboard and measured it. From tip to tip the actual cable length is 71.5 inches long. The cable housing is 69 inches. I hope this helps.

Corellian Corvette

The '66 - '67 versions are too long for '68 - '70. 2nd gen version is about 61 inches. 3rd gen is 68 inches. I had to do some research on this one.  :2thumbs:

The one that came with my 5 speed kit was just right.  :2thumbs:

Bumping this as I see that Mancini has Mopar PN. 04897646AA (63") cables in stock for $52.95. Correct for 1968-1970 B Body and 1970-74 E Body without cruise.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

the fitting  in the left side picture is wrong , looks like a screw in metal fitting  , same as the trans end ! although  might just be a gentric picture ! or the way the picture is taken   , but the correct end that plugs into the back of the speedo  , is  plastic

looking for a picture ,  if i cant find , will take a picture on my original one tomorrow  , if no one else comes up with one

Yea... I'm familiar with the plastic end, that's actually what's broken on mine.

I was hoping it was a generic pic!  :2thumbs:

1969chargerrtse

I'm getting ready to order what looks like the correct speedo cable, about 63" long.  Has anyone bought one of these from Mancini.
Are the two ends correct?  I can't tell in the picture if the gauge end is the plastic snap on type?
