hello charger gurus,,  i wasn't sure where to post this, , any way, i have a 68 , i fitted an aftermarket shifter, i was asking  the auto has the wire loom up to factory shifter  with the factory switch, is there a way  to make the reverse light come on in reverse with a re wire, without using the factory shifter switch as it will not work with the new shifter   but before i mess with it i thought would ask.
thank you

68 used a switch on the shifter
69 and 70 the reverse light switch is part of the neutral safety switch on the transmission
68 had 2 wires on the NSS
69 and 70 have 3 wires NSS so if you want to get that deep into it you just need a different switch on the transmission and run the third wire to the back up lights
Would have to look at a wiring diagram to be sure but I think you could just hook it to the feed wire that goes to the lights that was on your console shifter switch

In 68 the NSS only has 1 wire. WINGNUT

Just to feed the chassis ground to the Starter relay.

What aftermarket shifter are you using?
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Time to put on your creativity hat and mount a microswitch that will work with the shifter you want to use, when in the reverse position.

Another, but more involved, solution is to change the rooster comb in the trans and install a 3-prong NSS.

And redirect some of the wiring originally running the shifter switch to the bulkhead now

Just put a toggle sw. on the new shifter and be done.  :Twocents:
