Looking for my original engine to my Daytona 402983

Redbird

It seems like what you may be looking for is "the" original engine for "your" Daytona. If it was "your" original engine for "your" Daytona, you would already have it. At this point it would seem it is either lost to the ages or it is someone else's engine.

Dga26

You are correct.  I'm hoping someone has MY original engine to MY Daytona.  It's a long shot but I figured I would ask.

Redbird

When you do not own it it is not yours.

Here is the correct syntax.

Maybe a back history of from where it sold new to. Individual owners if there known may provide clues to this mystery missing motor. And you know from where it was aquired and state and possible owners someone may remember it

The history you have is the previous owner.  I purchased it from him.  It was last titled by him in 1977.  He is the second owner.  Engine was swapped out in the early 80s.  The current engine under the hood is from an a12 road runner.  It was pulled out in Michigan that's all I know.  The previous owner has dementia and is if no help.

You can post about it on Moparts in the engine and transmission found / wanted thread, it has well over one million views so far;

Miracles do happen I can be witness to that!

Back in the 80's I owned a 1969 Sixpack Superbee.
One of two in the UK.
No engine and trans they had been taken out for a drag racer?
Sold the car in the late 80's and forgot all about it...

Then in 1998 I bought a drag car, 'no engine and trans' and went looking for a 440 to put in. :drive:
I found a guy in North London with an ex 'Rob Loring' 440 race engine.
Raced it for a year or two into the 2000's and then 'outta da BLUE' a guy phones me up from France about the 440...

''I hear you have the engine out of my Sixpack Superbee''?
''No I said, when I owned the car it had NO engine and trans''...
He says '' YOU HAVE THE SIXPACK ENGINE IN YOUR RACE-CAR''? :scratchchin: :scratchchin: :scratchchin:

''WHAT, NO WAY'' that cannot be possible so he gives me the numbers and YES he was right!!!

I had the car in the 80's and the engine in the 2000's but never at the same time lol, (WHO KNEW) someone did?

Now they are happily reunited again somewhere in France... :pity: :pity: :pity:

C-500 posts and a happy story for you unhappy ENGINE hunters...

Do some of you guys have nothing better to do than to spend your time on here trying to cause arguments? Some of the responses I'm seeing are ridiculous.

Yeah, I agree, maybe he just wants to re unite the original Engine with the car & have a Numbers Matching car. Nothing wrong with that is there?

Plus, being a new guy we should welcome him instead of chasing him out of here :shruggy:

Some of these guys on here are complete idiots.  I'm sorry I posted this, I'm trying to reunite my engine with my Daytona.  This thread has been a complete waste of time.  Thanks a lot

Just ignore the idiots.

Sadly, this site does not have an 'ignore' feature.

Post it on Moparts in the section mentioned above.

As my friend Jack would say, "Don't let the turkeys rain (or is that reign?) on your parade!"  Tragically of course, there is this scene from WKRP in Cincinnati:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf3mgmEdfwg  "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.  (Yes, it will waste a bit of time, but it is extremely funny.)

Also, there are several of the "big guys" here who are spectacular, helpful, and willing to try to help.  To reunite your, my, our, or the original engine with a Daytona would be a great day for everybody.

Nobody understands my humor here, but at least they haven't banned me yet!  I'm still trying to figure out who that was standing next to Troy's car.  :smilielol:
I'm thinking/hoping that was the intent of Redbird there.

And of course you can't leave until you read about Bigfoot and the Mod Top Daytona:http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,23030.0.html  You can skip to page 3 if you want to see Bigfoot.

Never give up.

I had NO idea that I'd ever find one of the engines used in DC-93 when Chrysler owned it.

Steve Atwell bought a bunch of hemi parts from Bill Hancock (Chrysler, then Arrow Racing) when he moved to FL.
Bill got the parts from Petty Enterprises many decades before.

One short block assy had EX-144 stamped on it.  That denoted it being built at Chrysler Engineering, in the
"Motor Room".

I had received some documentation from the archives of Bob Lechner, from his son Jim, showing Chrysler engines supplied to Nascar teams
in the late 60s.          EX-144 was on the list as being in DC-93, Feb. 1969, Daytona 125 qualifier race.

Oddly enough, I had the list years BEFORE I even owned DC-93.  I bought EX-144 from Steve.

Bottom line:  Anything is possible.  Good Luck in your search.

:2thumbs:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?
