GearBox kickdown (not quickdown)

On a 66, do we have a kickdown that takes 1 gear down when accelerating?
From the linkage near the carb I assume yes, how can I adjust it?

"Quickdown"? I assume you mean kickdown and, yes, '66 automatic transmissions have WOT (Wide Open Throttle) kickdown and it can be adjusted if not working. Kickdown at less than full throttle (PTK) wasn't available in '66. Kickdown from 3rd gear to 2nd gear should occur at WOT but not above about 60 mph.

If it doesn't, first be sure that WOT at the pedal is WOT under the hood. IOW, have someone sit in the car and floor the throttle then, from under the hood push back on the carb lever to see if there is more than 1/4" remaining travel. If there is, adjust the throttle cable. If not, lengthen the linkage so that the transmission lever is further back at any throttle setting.

The above assumes you have stock carburetor/linkage.

I assume I have the stock carburetor and linkage.
1st picture is WOT at the pedal, second one is WOT by hand. You notice it pulls a bit more.
So looks like I need to adjust the cable?
I can't figure out the way it works. How it does interfere with the carburetor lever.
Cable goes in a plastic bell near the battery with a small chain hanging out. Pulling the cable near the carb moves the chain...

It appears you have cruise control. Post a pic of the carb at idle without your thumb.

Here is the carb at idle with no finger interference
It was running a bit fast, the carb linkage is sticking a litlle bit when I release the pedal slowly, I have to tap it with  my foot so it comes down in RPM. (I would say from 900 to 600, tach is down)
But there even pulling by hand it was running fast, I guess.
But I also have a carburetor problem (on another post)
In any case here is the carb at idle as requested.

What carburetor is it?

I believe the carb has Carter on the side, not sure of the model.

I'm confused by your cable setup, it appears you have two throttle cables, one for cruise control. This could be the source of the sticking throttle.

The middle one, the arrow pointing up, is a cable that goes back then turns along the firewall and fender and ends up in a black plastic cone near the battery. I can't understand the use.

that sounds like the cruise control unit, that will hold the throttle at whatever throttle position needed.

First goes in this black bell, then continue under the battery tray and ends in this black box with a grey cover and hoses running out of it.
Not much acess to shoot pictures there for now...
What is it for?

Yep, aftermarket cruise control. Looks like they used a factory cruise control cable and jerry-rigged it to the aftermarket servo. Could be the cause of the sticky throttle, disconnect it to be sure.
