Will re-production documents affect the integrity of my Charger 500?

Thinking about getting a re-pro window sticker done for my 500 - will this hurt the integrity and value of the car?

No, not at all
Yes, don't do it
Other re-pro docs will, new window sticker won't make a difference

C500

I have the fender tag, but no buildsheet. Car has been restored, numbers matching drivetrain. I wouldn't claim the window sticker to be original. Car is F8 green with 440/727. Vote in the poll above....
"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

Its in the 500 registry... prior owner history is un-known. Sold new in New Jersey, spent time in Wisconsin, then Arizona... cast your vote man!!

Don't you need a Build Sheet to accurately make a Window Sticker? :scratchchin: :shruggy: :Twocents:

Just don't lie and pass it off as original. My repro window sticker is always a hit at car shows. Unless you go to super "snooty" car shows then I wouldn't display it.

ph23vo

i would not make one personally..luckily i have one that's original..you just can[t beat the awe of original documents..

A reproduction window sticker will not have any bearing on value, positive or negative.     Your original fender tag is much more valuable to the car.

Thanks Dave... have that info covered.:. don't know what the 'destination charge' would be on the window sticker though

All F8 green Charger 500's are superb!

Along with all the other C500's as well, with or without ' window stickers'... :2thumbs:

Can't think of a BAD 69 Dodge colour, but there sure is some BAD 70 colours... :slap: :shruggy: :smilielol:

Very few factory original cars left after 50 years and most are restored in some shape or form.
Once you take a car apart, its not 'original anymore', so good documented resto is the 'name of the game'...

For me 'ALL ORIGINAL SHEET METAL' IS THE NUMBER ONE FACTOR, FOR A TRUE FACTORY BUILT CAR!!! :drool5:
Unfortunately my 'trunk-floor' has been replaced on my F8 440 4-speed dana C500, last one ever made...  :pity: :'( ::) (December 19th 1968 at 4.30 pm and it was snowing...) :smilielol:

Fake documentation can bring a cars value down.

To accurately 'reproduce' a window sticker, you would need the original window sticker to copy, anything else is a fake.

When people see fake documentation, they begin to wonder what other fakery happened with the car...... :Twocents:

I would agree with this thinking. A fake window sticker might be a good conversation starter at a local cruise in, but in all reality, it raises way more eyebrows at a large show.

I would not make a fake one, if your asking me. However its like everything with these cars, the car is yours, do what you want with it while you have it. Just know that faking a window sticker, or having a repro fender tag made, or anything like that will have different meanings to different people in the future.

He knows the original dealership that sold the car when new

Personally, I like to check out the window stickers at shows. Like mentioned above, it's a good conversation starter.

If you are worried that the reproduction window sticker could be mistaken for original documentation, a suggestion would be to have a "watermark" printed on it that says "duplicate", "reproduction" or "copy", depending on the situation. This way, there's no question it's (not) original.

Alaskan_TA

The fakes are easy to spot, and they do start conversations at times among the viewers. The conversations take on a negative tone though.....

Why waste money on a fake?
