Tic Toc Tach

I'm considering buying a repop Tic Toc Tach for my '68. I've done the switch over to electronic ignition and have been told you either need to switch out the circuit board or buy a repop tach for it to be compatible with electroni ignition.

Any one know which aftermarket tachs are good? Which ones to stay away from? Or all of them made by the same mfg but many different vendors. I found this on eBay, looks too good to be true at $350.00 shipped.

what type of ignition system did you go with ? I jist have the good old mopar setup with an orange box. Didn't have to do anything to my original tic toc.

Nothing fancy just a 5 pin gold box, stock electronic distributor.

i have a repop tic toc tach , i bought it from charger specialities pretty much from when they first started repoping them about 20 years ago give or take , works ok with an orange box,  think all after market  the tachs made from the late 70s  would be ok with stock type electronic ignitions ,  with MSD you need a tach adapter  thing ,   imo would make little sense to make a repop tach  that works only with points ignition , given a tach compatible with electronic ignition will work with points ignition

I just bought the electronic board from Real Time Engineering.  I read the soldering instructions like 5 times to make sure I had the correct wires.  I also had to tweak the 1/4" adjuster at the tach needle pivot to get it to return smoothly, it would stick when moving the needle w your finger.  Easy as can be, as long as you're comfortable soldering.  I made up a temporary harness and did the calibration at 1000 and 3500 rpm.  Easy.

this is basically what I have except mine was bought right from a dodge dealer ship. Is this.different then what you have. ? It was a long time ago now but I don't remember having to do anything with my Tach.

Update the board cheaper and easy. Reface the gauge if you want. Still money ahead.

This may not have anything to do with your tach but I purchased an aftermarket sending unit for my 70 Dodge Coronet. It was suppose to be plug and play. Never worked with the factory original instrumentation cluster. Despite much help and guidance from the forum after many hours we went and refurbished old unit. Unit went back in and gauge worked again. The takeaway is these new electrical items for our old cars don't work nice with our old wiring. Make sure you do not have a concern as it may not be returnable.
