If I had been able to locate and purchase a rust-free A100 pickup, I would have used the original sheetmetal from the mid point of the body side downwards.
However, I used an A108 van for a donor vehicle. And although it was in great shape, the rust mites had settled in on the bottom of the rockers and around the front wheel openings.
This precluded using that area's original metal, which I had to replicate and install. And since the passenger side of the body had a couple of doors, I was forced to reskin that area completely. Not to mention having to shorten the entire vehicle by 18" to match an A100 wheelbase.
Everything from the midpoint upwards on the original Deora (short of the roof itself) was hand fabricated as well. So I did the same.

So long story short....I've fabricated all of the exterior sheetmetal on my replica.

And thanks again for giving me these pictures several years ago! All of your efforts have been much appreciated!

(BTW: What was the date that you saw the Deora at said outdoor show? It must have been after the 50th anniversary Detroit autorama (Feb. 22-24 2002 at Cobo Center), and before it went on display at the Peterson Museum
s HotWheels exhibit?)

"    • The 50th Anniversary Detroit Autorama Historical Display, presented by Ford Racing, a tribute to the finest and the wildest vehicles ever to appear in Autorama, including Frank Mack's Roadster (winner of Best In Show at the first Autorama), Carl Casper's Popcorn Wagon, Ernie Selesi's Goldbrick, the Red Baron and the Zingers.

     • Ridler Award Winners: The Ridler Award is presented each year to the outstanding custom vehicle making its first public showing. On display will be many of the outstanding vehicles that have won the Ridler Award since its inception at Autorama in 1964, including that first-year winner, the Deora, and last year's winner, a customized '49 Chevrolet coupe.

     • A Tribute to the Alexander Brothers of Detroit, who operated one of the most important custom car shops of the '60s. In just over a decade, Mike and Larry Alexander built approximately 60 cars that stand as true works of custom automotive art. Many of these vehicles will be shown."

Thanks for the updates & pics.

The Deora has always been a favorite of mine ever since I first saw it at one of the auto shows as a kid. I don't recall if it was the New York Auto Show, or the Custom Car Show at the New York Coluseum, but the vehicle was incredible to look at. If my Dad & I ever took photos, which I doubt, they're long gone.

I'm starting to lose my patience on this build, any updates?   :shruggy: :smilielol:

A post on facebook about the original one reminded me of this replica.
