My 69 Charger original 383 2 barrel and now 528 Hemi single carb. I needed a longer throttle cable housing length wise to attach properly at the mounting points. I have no problem getting them longer. The problem is they are all shorter on the inner cable so the stroke is off. The replacements are all 3/4 to 1 inch to short. My original has almost 3 inches where the new are about 2 1/4. My original would work stroke wise just the overall outer jacket needed to be about 3 inches longer. This has me baffled.

Thanks. I sent an e-mail to Mancini. I did think about making my own. What bothers me is what has changed in making these cables. My old cable has the right stroke.

I would think the stroke would be related to the connection at the pedal and the connection at the carburetor.  Those shouldn't change, right?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

For some reason things change. My original cable was to short to reach but the stroke was ok. New cable reaches the mount points but the stroke is to short. Here is what I measured cables off car. Take the cable firewall side and pull it out as far as it will go. Measure from the tip of the jacket to the crimped ball. My OEM cable is 3 3/4 inches and the Mancini replacement measures 2 3/4 inches. So it wont work correctly. I can assemble with the throttle bracket in hand with my stock cable and it works. Why are these cables short on stroke. I may have to get a Locar kit or inner cable and make it work in my Mancini cable housing.

Here are a couple pics. My old cable is the top one the bottom is Mancini part number cc-371. As you can see my old cable is clearly about 1 inch longer. The replacement cable is fine mounting wise but the stroke is short. If my old cable could reach the mounting points I would be fine. I have been trying to get  Bouchillon to remeasure theirs because I dont think their 1 15/16 measurement is correct. That would be really short. I am lost at this point.

My boss says that distance appears to be 1 and 15/16 inches

I think I see.  Is it is the cable itself that restricts the movement?  The cables I have dealt with have been aftermarket ones I have made and the movement is determined by the pedal travel.

I do not know the answer to this if it is the cable.  Someone else will know.  If they don't, post the pictures again in a second thread on the topic.

Like I said the stock cable would work if it could reach the mounts. I have the pedal out of the car and with the old cable attached it will work. The new longer cable will reach the mounts but the inner cable is being made to short so the stroke is off. Even if I mount it to the pedal out of the car it wont work. Either no wide open throttle, adjust for wide open and wont return to the carbs idle screws. I wish I had more old cables at home to measure.
