What difference is there from a BB K-frame and a Hemi K-frame ?

Also going from a 66' Charger 383 "K" frame to a 528" Hemi Mega block what mounts would be needed?

I BELIEVE YOU JUST NEED A SET OF SCHUMACHER HEMI SWAP MOUNTS , THEY COST 250.00

RD

hemi k frames had a skid plate on them as well

I know about the skid plate. I didn't know if they are maybe reinforced at the drivers side mount or different mounts. Can you tell that I have NEVER owned a hemi?? :icon_smile_sad:

the hemi engine uses a totally different engine mount on the k-frame then the BB k-frame. so unless you go with the Schumaker mounts (which is what i did), Aruzza mount kit or elephant ear mount that's about the only quick easy way you could bolt a hemi in an regular BB k-frame.

Ok, so the K-frame for a hemi has totally different mounts, right? Does anyone here maybe have a pic. of a hemi K-member for a 66' b-body?

Steve, you are more then welcome on the photos. unfortuntly i don't have a hemi k-frame for sale.

i believe there was/is a company that was building them but i can't think of the name of them, i'm wanting to say that they have one every now and again on Ebay for sale.

if the car isn't going to be an original then i would go with the companies that sell the conversion mounts. the Schumacker conversion mounts are a strong piece and look great but they do set the engine about 1/2" higher in the engine compartment then the original hemi k-frame.

some of the fellows on other boards have told me that you can open up the mounting bolt holes (engine side) on the Schumacker brackets to get the engine to set in the stock location but i never did it to the ones i have.

i have heard that the Aruzza mounts sit the engine just right and use a stock wedge rubber insolator on the passenger side and a solid mount for the drivers.
