I recently found a '69 383HP shortblock from a Charger and want to check to see if this is anyone's long lost numbers matching engine, VIN XP29H9B259227  . My car's original 383-2bbl is long gone so I snagged this to have on hand if I ever wanted to put the car back to as close to factory correct as possible. I would be happy to reunite this with it's birth vehicle if it's still around. This is just a short block and it's rough but I believe salvageable with some machine work.

is there a "HP" stamp on the top pad?  Got a pic?

 if NO, it's a non-HP "383 4bbl (330hp)"

Good point 6bbgt, quite honestly I've always been unclear on the HP designation, the differences between the HP and 4bbl, and where it was/was not available. I'll check the top pad tonight, good learning experience!  :2thumbs:
