I sold my 68 R/T Hemi Charger in the summer of 73, I was just looking at my Bill Of Sale that I kept . The serial Number has only 5 digits after the B. It should have six ????????????

Wouldn't it be something if you find it belongs to a member here?  Very possible indeed.   Any pictures you can scan?

I agree that I must have missed a number. the car is possibly somewhere in New York state or maybe Ohio. the last three digits are 119 . So if its out there , Hope its restored. The original engine  is not with the car but I know where its at and who has it . I sold the 4 spd and I know where it may be . The hemi is in Nova Scotia and the tranny is still here in Newfoundland.

there was a green black top & interior four speed on ebay some time ago  ,  can't recall if it had power windows , as i remember been in storage sometime  , looked real good  , had a few none factory  mods done to it ,

Did you buy it new?

Why was green so popular back then?  I heard it mentioned @ Carlisle that it was the service men coming back that wanted green since all their equipment in the service was that color?

No I was second/third owner. Car was bought new in Ontario Canada AFAIK . Car was bought by a friend who had just windowed the block in his Hemi Cuda. I bought the Charger off him with the Cuda hemi  on a pallet. He later sold the Cuda to another friend and he then bought the original engine off me and still has it today . Car had about 32k on it when i bought it and in excellent condition. I had planned to drop a 440 in it as I had 15 or 16 440s kicking around at the time . But things change too fast sometimes . The US Gov. consumed my life for the next 15 years and although mopars were still there and i had several other muscles cars that were show/shine/ street/strip cars. So I sold the Hemi Charger     for .......................................$250.00  :brickwall:

Ghoste

Any idea what town or dealer in Ontario?

Rallyecharger

XS29J8B341119 listed as being from Toronto,Ontario...........

Ghoste

Well that won't narrow it down much then.

Rallyecharger

There is a second list that goes further, but that info will be for the current owner if the car surfaces......
It was an old warranty log listing the serial numbers of all 69-71 440,426 and all convertibles sold up here in the great white north. ;D

Probably the same reason that siler/gray is the most popular color today; it's what is/was "in" at the time.

Ghoste

Eactly.  Colors go in and out of style with cars just as they do with appliances or flooring or anything else.

472 R/T SE

Yeah, I realize that.

I'm just curious is the military folks were truly influenced?

Ghoste

Intereresting thought.  Young men coming back from Vietnam, WWII and Korea still fresh in their parents mind, battlefield images on the evening news.  There was a lot of green imagery for the public to see.

472 R/T SE

That pic of the green '68 doesn't look like a factory '68 color but I'm sure you knew that.

I really like this green. Actually when the greens are done right I'd have no issue owning one.

661 green, Mark's clean ride.
