Steve McQueen's character looks in the rearview mirror and says, "Holy @#%, its the General Lee".   Then the chase starts.   What kind of car is Bullit driving?  A Boss or a new Mustang?   I say an old one.  Then he somehow gets their Charger and drives that the rest of the movie.   Maybe not the General Lee, was just kidding about that, but an old Charger.

Well, I seen the movie last night, and loved it so much that I will buy it when it comes out on DVD, so, I say, hell yea, make another one.  2 sequals at the max, though.

I know I am going to get ripped, but I think I can hold my own. Here is my take/opinion on the DOH movie I saw.

Setting the Stage

7:00 PM showing Thursday
1 week after the opening
At the Largest theater auditorium
Only 20 people in attendance

The movie sucked.

It started off with bad language and a whole lot of sleaze and skank to stink up the room. The Duke boys were two Hillbillies that fell off the Beverly hillbilly's ride on their way to Hollywood. They both were unshaved smelly uneducated retards. They would embarrass a hillbilly. They acted like 13 years old. If I drove a General Lee to the show I would have left early for fear that some losers would ask me to give them a ride to the nearest cock fight. The Duke boys are supposed to be strong tough studs, not runts.

The movie flat out sucked. I sat there shaking my head at all the potential that was flushed down the crapper. They took a great car and put it in a Dog and Pony show.

The movie does not even compare, to any degree, the TV show. I went with an open mind. I tried to use all the arguments of - "Back in the 80's the DOH show was racy". I thought, heck, by the time my kids are older, and using that logic, by what I saw, the next DOH movie will be a skanky porn flick. Now maybe people that are raised in that environment can appreciate the finer side of inbred living, but it is just not my bag. People out here still live like that, but they live in single wide trailers with two Shevys in their yard and ten hubcaps hanging from their Christmas tree in July.

I am not upset, I'm angry. At the start of the movie you have Luke trying to bone some southern smell on his moon shine route. Now there is a boy I want dating my daughter. Now, maybe some people like that, but when you are a father of three daughters you tend to want to protect not promote the HO factor in life. Oh, that’s right, most guys are into new furniture but are in the antiquing business.

Then there is the pot. I do take this serious. I have friends and family in Law enforcement, who risk their lives daily in fighting drugs. I have seen lives ruined on both sides of this fight. I see pot smokers as no better than the guy that pulls the trigger and kills a cop trying to defend his devils veggie crop. From smoking dope in a college dorm, to the Governor smoking dope in the smoke house, it all makes me sick to see this in the DOH movie. These freaking dregs and losers did their best to make this a 1 time movie. It is no wonder there were only 20 people in a 400 seat auditorium after one week. I guess we all should be happy they screwed up this movie so bad - they will not be destroying any more Chargers - Yee Haa.

Ditsy, I mean Daisy, was all bod and no brains. For some guys that suits them fine, for that helps their cause, but the only thing she was, was skank bait.   Gee Dad, (Jessica's Dad)   what's it like to pimp your daughter?

The argument that this movie is no different than the TV program, I am sorry, but it does not even compare.

If it was not for the car I would have got up and left the B movie. Think about it. If the GL was a Shevy, would you be there? They had an opportunity for a hit, but they were too stupid to see it. I saw hundreds of kids and parents buy ticket after ticket for Sky High and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This movie had the power to draw people from every age group.

I said it before it came out, that if the skank factor was for the money - they have no clue on marketing.

Yah, they got the early crowd and DOH faithful the first go around on the opening week, but it will be out of the theaters shortly.

I wouldn't mind another sequel or several. As long as they do the Ford four door Crown Vic conversion's with AMD panels for the cars used. It did piss me off about uncle Jesse and everyone else were pot heads. Took away from the good ole American for anyone kind of show like the series was.

I agree. I hate seeing Hollywood push the marijuana agenda, it is like the other deviant stuff they "casually" put in TV and movies. It is clear that they are trying to get people used to drug use, gay marriages, interracial relationships, female superiority and other bullshit.

The confederate flag issue will probably keep DOH from ever being revived.  


There won't be any more new DOH shows with the flag still on the car.  (Hey, I'm just the messenger.  This is the way it is now.  It's not gonna change any time soon.)  But most of the DOH fan base won't be happy about any new DOH stuff without the flag.  The studio cannot win either way.  

DOH is not a big franchise in the eyes of Warner Bros so they are just leaving it alone.  They have plenty of other old franchises to remake that won't cause them any problems.

There is no big, sinister, calculated, planned agenda.  

The entertainment industry attracts artsy left-leaning people and they end up living & working in a bubble of like-minded friends.  Their work reflects that.  

Artsy people tend to like culturally provocative stuff because that is normal for artsy people.  It was the same way 1000 years ago.

I love the dukes, I own a GL but it doesn't fit the millennial way of thinking today.  I think it'd be cool for john and tom to step in an uncle jesses role and have a new generation of dukes.  Thing is the cell phones don't work to good on a farm and kids just aren't attracted to good ole 80s tv drama.   On top of that you have the flag drama which is still outrageous. 

We need to just enjoy what we have because the dukes we would want in 2019 wont be allowed by the people so sensitive to the stuff that offends them.

I shook Katherine Bach, Tom Wopat and Ben Jones' hand at "Muscle Kingz" at Bakersfield raceway last Saturday and thanked them for all the years of entertainment.

In my opinion, if any new Dukes movie/series is going to be as dumb as the 2005 movie... they'd better leave the Dukes heritage alone.

They have to go back to the season one roots, and make it a new generation of dukes giving it a small town feel again   the new movie was entertaining  but not "The Dukes"

The only way a remake movie could work is to set it back in the 1970s.   But that kind of remake, even done really well, would just be a greatest hits album.  You could ape the old show but it wouldn't really improve on it.  

It's like remaking 'Smokey and the Bandit'.  It might be possible to do one that doesn't completely suck.  Maybe.  But even if they did, I would probably see it once and then keep watching the original one.    


It might be healthier to reboot DOH in the present day with older Bo & Luke and their kids or something.  But that could not be the same kind of show as before.  The world has changed too much since Hazzard county seemed plausible.

I do joke around but at the same time, all it takes is some open eyes to see how the entertainment industry pushes an agenda. They are directly aligned with the Liberal Democrat ideology.
For years they pushed a "pro cigarette" agenda where several actors were smoking onscreen. That trend has faded though.
TV shows have a disproportionate amount of gay characters compared to regular society. I'm okay with gay people but they are not as common as TV shows lead you to believe.
TV ads show a disproportionate amount of interracial marriages compared to regular society. Look for yourself.
To me, when I see a TV show or movie that shows any activity that is not very common in regular everyday life, it seems clear that they are not showcasing an activity but trying to promote it.

The Gillette ad recently made it seem that the only good men were the minority guys, the white males were all portrayed as bad apples.
I am aware that some will brand my views as "Tin foil hat" paranoia but take a look for yourself with open eyes.
IF a TV show is set in a big city, I expect to see a greater amount of diversity, more minorities, more gay people, etc.
Sure, Hollyweird is chock full of "artistic types" but they view America through their own distorted, twisted eyes instead of the way that things really are.

But they do a lot of this stuff just because it's practical.  

Look at interracial couples in ads lately.  That's not happening because somebody woke up one morning and decided to promote the idea.  They mainly do it because it's more inclusive than sticking to any one single race.  They want to grab attention with non-whites but they don't want to stray too far from the biggest demographic out there, either.  So if their ad features a couple . . . why not just do one white + one non-white?  Problem solved.  This isn't a social agenda, it's free market capitalism.  

Yeah, corps do like to show they are hip to cultural changes.  But it's still basically a reactive thing, not a proactive one.  

Individual movie stars like to rant about their political beliefs at award shows.  But that's not the same thing as mutli-million-dollar companies pushing political agendas on purpose.   Big corps just want money.

These ads and stuff . . . they are not putting down straight white guys on principle.  They are trying to make an ad.  Ads often work by poking fun at somebody.  Picking on the straight white guy is the safest one nowadays.  Picking on one of the other colors or genders might not be a big deal . . . but there's that "might" word.  They have to consider it.  There is a non-zero chance of offending somebody and getting blowback.  There's NO risk if they pick on the straight white guy.

Once again, it isn't really a social agenda.  This one is mostly corporate risk-avoidance.  AKA free market capitalism at work.
