Anyone have a good way to ship a 440 motor from California to North Dakota?

We do it every day. Build a crate to put it in to protect it or buy one of those plastic shipping containers to ship it in made by Scribner Plastics to protect it. Usually, anywhere from 100+ to a couple hundred bucks to ship anywhere in the U.S.

Thanks for the reply. I live in North Dakota and I'm buying a 440 in California and thought it would be better to ship than go get it. Who do you ship through? I was thinking Fed ex freight. Not sure

We use many different shipping company's depending where the engines are shipping and quoted costs. Fed Ex Freight, UPS Freight, Road Runner, CCX, Global Trans to name a few.

Is this a stock block you are buying, or a built engine you intend to install?  If it is a built motor you plan to drop in the weekend after you get it I'd recommend you try and find a carrier that doesn't interline...If you are just getting a year correct engine and will be machining/building later on I wouldn't be as worried about it.

Make sure it is crated and on a good pallet...I'd also suggest you insist on "DO NOT STACK" stickers.  You would be amazed what freight lines will do to maximize trailer space.

It's a rebuilt 440 HP motor. Complete from intake to oil pan. Thanks for the replies. I was thinking of driving there and picking it up but shipping it sounds like a better option
