I was told that at some point, Mopar cars had a segment of the VIN stamped into the sheet metal of the car. The core support and the LH trunk gutter under the weather strip? I have a reproduction decal on my core support and the weatherstripping is good so I cannot easily verify it.
What part of the VIN is stamped in these areas?

Year changes things Kern Dog.. here's my 1970 Bird in the trunk and '69 Bee front rad support (it's on the side '69, 70 I believe is on top). Antifreeze sticker is over my birds rad support or at least I hope so.

I can feel the numbers from the bottom of the trunk gutter and know where they are but have not peeled the weather strip back to read them
Not sure if I could take a picture from the bottom and tell what they are if I can compare to the VIN on the dash

I tried that for YEARS on my Superbird and gave up trying, almost though it was a fake. One day I just had to know.. lol. Peeled back the seal and had to sand to find the faint stamping. Clear coated it and reinstalled the seal.

Note the VIN will be 0A for a 70 and they'll stamp the body vin A0. Same as the 9A for '69.. stamped A9

I think I read somewhere that some of the Superbirds didn't get the radiator support VIN stamping. :scratchchin: :Twocents:

Good thing my car's VIN is nothing special, I replaced the gutters with the quarters, just because, while you're there.....

'68 Road Runner.

But 68 is not the VIN, it is the VON, just stating so people dont get confused.

Vehicle Order Number?
Does that correspond with the VIN in any way?

Some say yes, some say no, I say I don't know. :)

On 68 and older, vehicle order number is on the fender tag and body stampings. The vin is on the dash tag. The only way to absolutely tie the two together is to have the broadcast sheet. That is my understanding.
