:'(Saw something awful on the way to the local short track last night for opening day. The only regularly driven Charger of any generation went by me in the opposite direction on a roll back. It was hurt real bad. It is a 73 or 4 SE painted orange ( power bulge, hideaways ), was a nice looking car. Hit hard in the front. I think I know where he lives. I'm thinking I will swing by his house and offer any help I can this afternoon. I'll see if I can grab a pic or two, if I can without seeming wierd ( wierder? ). :P

MassCharger73

I stopped @ the car this morning but no one was around. I left a business card with a request to call. Heres a lousy pic.

I recieved a call from the car owner this afternoon. He is going to fix the car. He has a friend who owns a body shop ( lucky guy ). The good news is that the fenders were bondoed wrecks and he had a better bumper that he hadn't put on yet. But he is going to need to find new sheetmetal. He saw a valance today at a flea market in CT, but the condition was poor and the price steep. I told him that my car could end up a donor if I am able to unload my '60 Catalina quickly enough to buy a local '72 Charger.

I know that car,I think I saw it in Rehoboth Mass.  There was another guy on the same road that had a couple Road runners in his yard. I stopped but knowone was home.

That's the one. I spoke to him for a few minutes today, it is originally a 318 AT bench seat car. It is now a 383 ( 13:1 ) 4 speed with buckets and no console.

The hood lloks like it might be fixable, the bumper and fender got the brunt of the damage.

MassCharger73

The hood is definately repairable, it has a small kink on the left side. As far as the accident goes, he blamed the tree for jumping into the way when the car jumped sideways after a shift into 2nd. :icon_smile_wink:

I hate those jumping trees, theres a lot of those in Rehoboth! People should not use that Miiracle Grow out near the curb. Did the frame get damaged?

MassCharger73

I didn't poke around too much, the owner wasn't there. The left frame rail is most definately bent downward. The owner is going to purchase new repop inner fender wells.

Moparfied, do you remember at the house with the two RR that he also had a little red express ?

I have a valance that is not in great condition, but I will sell it for cheap to him, $20.  He will have to pay for shipping.  It will need some body work done to it, but it is definitely repairable.

Yeah, Mass Mopar, that is the house I was talking about. I spoke with that guy a few years back,he had a 69 Charger out in front of his house for sale. The Charger was  blue with a gold 68 nose on it. That was about 9 years ago. He said that the Little Red Truck was his brothers. He also had a red 73 Road Runner, and a green 68 Road Runner in his yard. A few years later,he bought a really nice B5 blue 71 GTX. It was a 440 4speed Dana car, with an air grabber hood. It was a clean solid car. But he beat the shit out of it,and drove it year round, and the body started rotting out.I do not know what he did with the GTX. He was kind of wacked. he thought he could beat these cars to death, and let them rot for years, and their still worth as much as restored ones. I havent been up that way for about a year or more, does he still have any of them left?

He still has both RR. A friend tried to buy them fairly recently, I don't think they could find a middle ground as far as pricing was concerned.

I figured those cars would still be there. When I spoke with him,he wanted about double what they were worth. That green Road Runner has not moved in about 15 years! I wonder what happened to the 71 GTX?
