Hi All, is there a way to test the sender?  my temp gauge is not working and I hooked up another one which still didn't show anything.  so I'm wondering if it can be checked before changing it.

Thanks

That single wire that goes to the sender

Remove that wire from sender - Take an alligator clip to that wire and other end to a good known ground

Turn key on and see if temp gauge moves to full hot

This will tell you if your gauge and wiring is ok - If it moves then your sending unit is not the correct one or it's not grounding properly

If the gauge doesn't move when key is turned on , then you need to trace that wire through the bulkhead connector and up to the gauge

Could bee wiring - Could bee gauge - Could bee instrument voltage regulator on dash

Are the other gauges working like your gas gauge ?

thanks  gas and oil gauges are only working half way.  i thought it might be the regulator  but I haven't attempted to take out the cluster yet.

just tried it and the gauge did not move at all
