When I see body mods, I always think of Chip Foose saying - "just take out the ugly, and stop."  It's a less-is-more way of thinking about non-functional body mods like the extended scallops and duck bill spoiler. Body over swaps just make the car taller, and you're forced to build out a huge air dam. The raised fender openings don't bother me too much since it harkens back to chopped NASCAR fenders.

Respect the work, but it's just not to my taste.

I like it. Sort of that traditional Hot Rod philosophy take the old body and update it with a more modern engine and underpinnings. I never like a hood with more than one depression or hood scoop theme though.

If you paint it black, I like it a lot. But not to be confused with a original/correct restoration.

I'm by no means a purists, but these type of builds don't do much for me. In my opinion, it's not a 69 Charger build so much as a 2017 Charger reskin.

It's beautiful quality work and all, I'm just not interested in LX chargers to begin with. I imagine 10 years from now, the bronze drivetrain swapped 69 will be considered much more desirable than the body swapped 2017 charger.

As a pro touring guy, I probably sound like a total hypocrite. :icon_smile_big:

What I like about the bronze hellcat 69 is that it basically looks like a "regular" 69 Charger. I'm not a fan of the modern dash and interior, but i guess they need it for all the Performance Pages and whatnot. Even the larger wheels look pretty good, IMHO.

those LX swaps always look disproportionate - the wheels look odd or stick out too far, and so on. I've only seen one that actually looked good - a local Southern California guy that put a 68 body on a magnum chassis 8 or 9 years ago. I think he was on here for a while, but I can't remember the screen name.

EDIT: here it is. I think the car was sold to an overseas buyer a few years ago. But damn it looks good. http://www.mopar5150.com/68charger.html

I like the copper/bronze colored car much better.
Guys that try to improve the design of the 68-70 Charger by way of body mods need a kick to the dick. The deeper door scallops and hood, the wheel openings.... :brickwall:  Plus, it may be an illusion but the car looked hacked. Maybe they had the fab work unfinished while they turned to the mechanicals? It looked like unfinished welds on the firewall, duck tail spoiler area, etc.

The late model dash never looks at home but I like both cars. I'd proudly drive either!

It might not be the same car but they had an unmolested '69 for sale on Facebook a few months/maybe a year ago now saying if no one bought it they were going to use it for a project. Too bad no one bit.

I like the OP, probably would go over better if they'd waited until it was painted.

Love the completed bronze one.  :2thumbs:
